The world of cyberspace is one of the influential factors nowadays that contribute to the changes in a person’s behaviour. The development of cell phones and online communication and social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter led to rapid exchange of information that gave bullies a new way of causing harm and uneasiness to others: cyberbullying. Cyberbullying differ from the traditional bullying in terms of the form, scope and medium used. With the use of latest online applications and communication gadgets, bullies no longer need to face their victims, making cyberbullying a worldwide problem that needs immediate solution.

One of the biggest issues of online communication is cyber bullying. It is defined as, ‘‘the use of information and communication technologies to support deliberate, repeated, and hostile behavior by an individual or group, that is intended to harm others” (Baas, de Jong, and Drossaert, 1). There is so much anonymity online which makes it difficult for cyberbullying to stop. From personal experience, I have been cyberbullied on social media websites like Youtube. People commented hurtful things on my videos, I was fifteen at the time, so I did not tell my parents.

This study proved that given the amount of time that adolescents are on computers unsupervised whether it be at home or in public libraries those who cyberbully are most often the ones that were prior victims to cyberbullying themselves. I am going to talk over the difference between physical Bullying and Cyber Bullying, people who are being bullied (victims), how to avoid it, and what the laws are on bullying in general. A Survey of 1,500 teenagers was done to mark Safer Internet Day and out of those 1500 of those questioned, 41% said online hate had increased in the past year. To most people the general stereotype of a bully is a oversized male who physically and verbally harms a smaller weaker student. With the internet any small physically weak child can become as much of a bully as the big and the brute but with even more impact.
