In this day and age, we are all living in a digital world in almost all aspects of our lives. Modern technology today has made life more convenient for many us. With the internet and everything connected to it such as online shopping, instant messaging and video chatting, it seems as if technology that is to be developed in the future is endless. This being said there is a downfall to using technology. With the internet everything is interconnected and there are problems that may arise from this. A digital footprint is all of the information about a particular person that is on the internet as a result of their online activity. It is the information you leave behind as you use the internet that potentially can be seen by others or even tracked in a database. This digital footprint is said to be a portrait of who you are online and is a digital representation of yourself.

It is said that there are two main classifications for digital footprints. There is a passive digital footprint as well as an active digital footprint. A passive digital footprint is created when data is collected without your knowledge.
