In January of 2017 Donald Trump took office and since then he has caused controversy in the United States as well as around the world. Trump has been seen as an unconventional president because of the way he has been going about accomplishing his goals and the way that he uses social media and news stations to show what his intentions are. He has addressed topics such as climate change, immigration, jobs, and tax cuts. Because of his strong opinions there has been two extreme sides to each argument, the people for it and the people against it. However, the big question is, are the decisions that are being made making an impact? In the 2016 presidential election Trump took the win over Hillary Clinton by 74 electoral votes. Since the election …show more content…
Trump has said, “Making America Safe is my number one priority. We will not admit those into our country we cannot safely vet” (CNN). After revising the initial travel ban that was created during the first few weeks of Trump being in office, a new version came out that restricted travel on certain foreigner’s form Chad, Iran, Libya, North Korea, Somalia, Syria, Venezuela, and Yemen. The new restriction varies depending on the country and is meant to keep terrorists out of the United States. For example, the ban exempts most students from any travel restrictions however Syrians and North Koreans are closed off in all circumstances. Even though the ban may help some Americans feel safe or provide a time for the government to find more productive ways of dealing with terrorism and security it impacts many in a negative way. For example, researchers from several counties travel to the U.S. to attend meetings or conduct studies. Foreign scientists and engineers play a large role in many studies that are conducted in the U.S. and the ban will enhance screening and selection …show more content…
According to the Washington Post, “Ever since Trump’s election, discussion of the vast divides in our nation between prosperous regions and those battered by economic change have filled our newspapers, websites and airwaves” (Washington Post). These big tax cuts that are coming may benefit some however over all may make this gap between regions larger. Tax cuts are a reduction in taxes by decreasing the income of the government and increasing the income of those whose taxes have been lowered. Trumps tax cut plan seems great because it will increase the amount of money in a worker’s pocket by keeping it from going to the government. However, not only will the cuts just benefit the top one percent and middle-class workers it will increase government debt even more. Trump is pushing for a tax cuts because he promised them and believes the economy is flourishing under his supervision, with low unemployment rates and stock market highs. The tax cuts have a potential to promote economic growth by increasing investment and spending but may not be enough to be able to pay for themselves. The economy will still be greatly impacted, in a negative way, by the debt that the government has. President Trump pledged to create 25 million jobs in the United States within the next decade. One way that he promised to create jobs is through
Trump known for his strong opinions on foreign relations seems to favor another President’s policy. James Madison’s Non-Intercourse Act (1809) was put in place to lift the embargo on all other countries except London and France; however, the act did not help and just led to the coming War of 1812. This is not to say that Trump will lead the American country to war, but his hard will opinions on muslims and mexicans have led to heated debate. In modern times, war, drugs, and violence not only plague the nation but the world. Trump known for his comments on his plan “ to stop immigration from any nation that has been compromised by terrorism,”notes CNN, is what many are calling a ban on muslims.
With the ending of Cruz's career and the imminent defeat of Sanders, both Clinton and Trump stand to be the presumptive party nominees once all of the delegates have been assigned and the conventions begin to plan ahead. This years election is unique in how the general public view both candidates. Donald Trump has the support of millions in the country, getting behind his conservative stance on many issues. Clinton seems to be the less popular of the two between her and Bernie Sanders, yet has the political experience and savvy needed to push her more liberal policies through. In short, the end of the year is going to be interesting.
If Donald Trump wins the Presidential election, I believe that first two substantive issues he will prioritize on his agenda will be breaking and shelving the Iran nuclear deal and containing the spread of what he calls “radical Islam.” Currently, Iran has a large stockpile of uranium and over 20,000 centrifuges which can make at least 8 nuclear bombs, one every 2/3 months. In response to Iran’s nuclear program, the UN, US and the EU emplaced nuclear-related sanctions on Iran, crippling its economy. The deal orders Iran to reduce it’s of uranium by 98 percent and maintain the uranium enrichment at a level drastically below what it needs to make a bomb, and in return, the UN, US and EU will remove its sanctions, allowing Iran to gain access
Donald Trump made immigration the centerpiece of his campaign and offered a more comprehensive policy outline than on any other issue. In the past, immigration has largely been seen as a positive force for the economy and an essential part of the country´s legacy, according to the terminology of previous presidents. President Trump, on the other hand, is addressing immigration as a major threat to the national security and economy of the American people. President Trump has sanctioned dramatic reductions to legal immigration during his first year in office.
In this situation, there are multiple pros and cons. This article reveals the basics of what is currently going on with our foreign affairs. The theme of this article, titled “Trump's latest executive order: Banning people from seve countries and more”, is presidential wartime and foreign affairs. In this case, the President might have too much power for
The first amendment allows a person to have freedom of speech but a newspaper is allowed to say whatever they want as long as it is appropriate but this newspaper is getting threatened by Donald Trump just because they don’t support Donald Trump but they have a point in the article when they say I give you Phil. Our editorial page editor is a lifelong Republican, a conservative and a patriot. He was an early voice of reason, arguing calmly that Donald Trump didn't represent the values of the party he loves it sound like that some Republican don't support Donald Trump just because he doesn’t have the same value as the other republicans but Donald Trump want to run for president as a Republican but Donald wants to make threat to this newspaper
Since no incumbent is running, the American people are faced with a choice—a new choice—and many are choosing Republican candidate Donald Trump simply because he is playing off of the fears of other people, especially with xenophobia. No bipartisan support has been shown to the candidate; instead there has been revetment and condemnation of the billionaire. When Trump first announced his candidacy, most people thought he was a joke. As he started to prove that he wasn’t (according to the numbers, at least), the other Republicans rode his coattails, but to no avail. Regardless, though, of his apparent success, a Dark Horse will quite possibly emerge and defeat the frontrunner.
Not only is this a big deal and huge negative point for Immigrants, gay, black, mexican people ect. Don't forget that Trump does not give a damn about climate change. Which means that America will not have climatical justice under the name of Donald Trump, which not only effects America... But the whole world. Since that the new president of the United States only works for profit and greed for himself he will not be ashamed of harming the natural state of the enviroment and habitats of innocent animals.
But this is just a way a president is trying to help out his country, there are many that say he is going to be a bad president for the way that he speaks. But his words don´t show his actions. Donald Trump is only trying to help get back his country and he is trying to do that by getting his citizens their jobs back. All of the Latino´s that come into the United States take jobs that are meant for the U.S citizens. Leaving is also no guarantee as much as we throw them out they will come back trying to make a living and every time that we send them they don't stop and just come back.
“A nation of nations”, a phrase that always comes out in our mind when we are thinking about America. America is a great nation where many people tolerate with each other. It is a dream of America to live together as a democratic country. Now, America faces a great problem, it’s because a racist has chosen as the leader of this great country. Soon, the dream of democracy will become a nightmare for immigrants, blacks and muslims.
There are a lot of dilemmas that this great nation if facing at this time and one of those dilemmas is immigration, and with the 2016 presidential election around the corner the candidates are selling their ideas on how to deal with the problem of immigration. And some candidates have some great ideas to try to solve the US immigration problem but one candidate that doesn’t is Donald Trump. Trump has this absurd plan to build a giant wall between the US and Mexican board and not just that he also said he’s going to make Mexico pay for it. First of all knowing my people a wall not going to stop them from coming to the US and they are not going to want to pay for it.
Like most, when Donald Trump announced his candidacy I didn’t think much of it. Trump was fully expected to run back in 2012 and the real shock was him declining during that cycle. However, a Trump run in 2016 wasn’t out of the ordinary, and when he announced his candidacy on June 16th, 2015 it was the thought of “this should be fairly entertaining”. The entertainment is over.
President Donald Trump wants to pull the U.S. out of the Paris climate accord. The Paris climate accord is an agreement within the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) dealing with greenhouse gas emissions mitigation, adaptation and finance. With this executive order, it suspends more than half a dozen measures enacted by his predecessor, and boosts fossil fuels, which will not only have a huge impact on the environment but also on the economy. Donald Trump wants to pull out of this agreement because of two reasons the first reason that I find ridiculous, is that he doesn’t believe that global warming exists, he thinks that man cannot heat up the world temperature, so he think that being in this agreement is a waste. The second thing is that he wants to bring back coal mining jobs back to America.
After returning to the United States, it is obvious that I have returned to a very different environment. The first couple of days, Donald Trump has signed some new executive orders which have been criticized by both national and international authorities and institutions. These executive orders are not only problematic for the States but also for the World as a whole. The main concerns are mostly related to economic issues and foreign relations according to the new implementations of populist and protectionist policies. I am particularly interested in the Immigration ban which restrains seven Muslim Countries access to the States.
In the run up to the US elections, President Trump would confidently indicate that his foreign policy would solely focus on “Making America Great Again”. This statement spurred controversies and debates from different angles but he remained committed to the promise even after being elected.
