In 2009 NYU Langone Medical Center launched the electronic health record system where it provides a single platform that patients, physicians, staff can access and manage their medical information. As an employee of NYU Langone Medical Center, I do have access to the electronic health record system. Both my doctors are also part of the NYU electronic health record system and this makes it very easy for me to access my medical information at my job, from my cell phones and even from home. I can easily sign into my portal chart with my secure sign-in log and password and view my medical information. It is free, easy to use and it allows me to view my notes written by any of my physicians. It also allows me to see my lab results, immunization, my vital signs etc. When I am unable to keep an appointment, I can just sign on to my secure portal called "My Chart" and reschedule. If I need to speak to my physician I can always send her a secure note and wait for the reply.
