Money is the basis of living , even people with lower income degrees could support themselves before the cost of tuition went up drastically. However, when you add student loans in the mix , debt over takes the standard of living. Ellison has heavy focus on this because he wants to highlight a big reason why free tuition can be beneficial for people in the long run. He believes if free tuition was put in place , every college graduate, lower income or higher income, will be able to live within their
Because of that, people can get these skills for almost free. Lastly, the skills are lessons that people learn from parents and other parent figures in life. Another reason that college educations are not needed is that the student debt that college students get far outweighs the potential salary of college graduates. According to the article, “Why College Isn’t for Everyone”, the author states, “others
Think about it wouldn 't that be great in college while being able to graduate college debt-free? Well that is what college athletes get,so i don 't think is fair for them to get paid. College athletes should not be paid because they were the ones that signed up to be college athletes. College athletes have a responsibility to represent their college. Which is why college is a place to get degrees not money.
College athletes already get their education free why should they get paid for playing a sport they love playing. What do you think, should college athletes get paid for playing the sport there in? Well I don’t think so and in this paper I will tell you and give you reasons why they shouldn’t be paid. College athletes are already getting a free education they shouldn’t be allowed to be paid. My topic is why college athletes shouldn’t get paid. The first reason is because People would stop watching or attending the college games.
It's all about what you can do for them. Indeed, these scholarships pay for tuition, room and board, and books, but these athletes don't have money for other necessities. These students still live a college life, they go out with their friends, they go to the bars, they buy new clothes, these scholarships do not pay for those items. The argument can be made that the average college student that does not receive a scholarship, also may not the ability to buy these items, so why do the athletes get this special privilege? My main point on that question could be that these average students are not put on display on a daily basis, these athletes or put on television or the radio, and they make the NCAA and their respected schools money every time they pay the game.
One of their reasons is because using a student’s household income to determine how much they can get can stop a smart student from going to a college of their choice. There could be a smart student who has a low income that really wonts to go to college cannot afford it and when they go take a loan they would not the right amount because of an income that is not their fault. The second reason is that someone could have a backup payment plan on paying the loans back and taking out a huge loan could not be a big deal. The amount of income that a family gets doesn’t determined how much they could make from their job. They could take out a loan and could have a payment plan to take money from their work check and pay the loan back monthly.
Having free tuition for college means that more people who cannot afford it now, would end up going. This is a good thing in terms that more people are getting a good education and continuing their educational careers to hopefully obtain good job, but it also decrease the value of a college education. If more people are able to earn degrees, it devalues them. Finding jobs even with their qualifications would be difficult (Should college be free?). This idea would also apply to the students, mainly student-athletes, that work for multiple years to try to perfect their skill and obtain full or half scholarship.
To culminate, college athletes should not be paid to play. There are many reasons why college athletes should not receive payment to play a collegiate sport. Their college is already being paid for due to the scholarships that these athletes have earned. They have been noticed because of their athletic abilities and the college they have decided on is providing free or help with their education fees in turn for the athlete to compete in the sport they play, which is most likely a great hobby to them. College athletes receiving payment for play would be very unfair to non-athlete students.
As we all know, college can be very expensive. With the scholarships and grants, college student-athletes can go to school for free and get their day-to-day needs such as food, housing, clothes, etc. Ackerman and Scotts, purpose is to show that college is a learning experience and with the help of college sports, the student-athletes will have a chance to grow and be successful in life rather than being exploited. However, critics believe that college student-athletes should be paid salary, like professional athletes, because they want people to see the “athletes are the rule, not the expectation” (par 11). They want the audience to think that it’s a rule for student-athletes to go play pro after two years, will no expectation.
1 Many kids graduate school wondering what college they want to go to and if they want to spend so much money on it. Though some people think that college isn’t worth it I’d like to respectfully disagree. I think that college is worth it. The evidence I have behind my reasoning is that people with a diploma that are not going to college won’t be able to experience amazing social gatherings than people with a degree, and people with a diploma make less money than people with a degree. 2 First, people with a diploma that are not going to college won’t be able to experience amazing social gatherings than people with a college degree.
