This article discusses how we are able to analyze recent policy changes from the development of Canada’s immigration policy. The main goal was to understand the objectives of the current policy, how it relates to the economy, and who the policy affects. According to the article, the country’s immigration policy has a history of wanting to use immigration for long and short term goals like economic growth and adjusting to current labor market conditions. Canada’s immigration has drastically changed from what it used to be after abandoning and adopting different concepts. An example would be the “absorptive capacity” concept that was abandoned after realizing it doesn’t truly help the long-term goals it originally was thought to be.

Canada has a little piece of almost every culture in the world, shown through the large amount of people moving to Canada from every continent in the world. The multitude of cultures is displayed through the plethora of festivals held throughout the country every year, such as the Folk Fest, Edmonton Food Festival, Heritage Festival and the International Film Festival, all bringing in various cultures and traditions from around the world. Canada has all of these festivals due to the large amount of immigration that was even shown in Anita Rau Badami’s essay my Canada, when she and her husband had moved from India to Vancouver. Canada is one if not the most desirable countries to immigrate to, not only for the living conditions but because of the ability to keep your culture and not have to assimilate to a “Canadian” culture. Thanks to immigration Canada has become a great model country to look at for cultural diversity and cultural acceptance that any country can look at and try to model in their own
We sometimes doubt if the U.S Constitution stands for what it says. It states that “All men are created equal” which means that everyone has the same rights, regardless of what sex, religion, race, or appearance. In our society, we have equal rights, case no one man has more than the other. In Arizona there was a legislative bill passed for Arizona Immigration Law otherwise known as SB 1070. The Arizona SB 1070 legislation is unethical because the “probable cause” stipulated in the law both protects and encourages racial profiling, and violates citizen’s rights and dignity.
Hello, thank you for taking the time to view my resume, I have recently moved to Ontario and Iam eager to discover this amazing province. I have lived in several countries including: England, Spain and Brazil; I am now a permanent resident of Canada with dual citizenship; Brazil and Spain. I can speak and write fluently in both English and Portuguese and have an intermediate level in Spanish. Due to multiple living locations I have developed my sense and respect for different cultures, religions and way of life, creating an ability to adapt to many situations; by developing scenarios where, "thinking on your feet", being innovative, compassionate, empathetic and dedicated as well as, having a thirst for knowledge and understanding are thriving
Immigration conundrum will never be felt as acutely by second generation immigrants because things change and people forget about the right way it is awfully to think roots can and should be so easily discarded. I prefer Jhumpa Lahiri's narrative voice over Smith’s no inflection of moral no pronouncing of judgement on flawed choices but a restrained attempt at humanizing all characters. I feel this is something that happened to most people because some people have like family things they do and as people get older and others don’t do what has always been done or the new person that takes over forget it or does do it right. Also with religion people have a different outlook than someone else and each people will take it different and to me

Bill C-24 introduces reforms that undermine the fundamental rights of many Canadians and presents more difficult requirements for applicants. Under the former Act, citizenship applicants only needed to reside in Canada for three out of four years which is a minimum of 1,095 days. The current Act introduces a more lengthy residency requirement by requiring applicants to be physically present in Canada for four out of six years, and applicants must also provide an “intent to reside” statement (Citizenship and Immigration Canada, 2014, February 6). The former Act barred applicants who had domestic criminal charges and convictions. The current Act expands the bar to applicants with foreign criminal charges and convictions (Citizenship and Immigration Canada, 2014, February 6).
The improvement of the rights of the Canadian Immigrants Canada, as one of the biggest immigration countries, welcomes people from all over the the world and forms a representative multicultural atmosphere in today’s society. Over these few decays, the country has always been consummating the laws to provide immigrants equal rights and freedoms, and better treatments they could receive. However, Canadian immigration laws were not unprejudiced and it eventually caused a “legal discrimination” before 1976. The legal rights of the immigrant groups have improved significantly because of the demands of developing the country, the influences of the wars, and the globalization of the world. Since 1880s, more immigrants and foreigners came to Canada because of the railway construction project.
One of the major benefits that migration has on Canada is how much it benefits the economy, the population, and it’s valuable members to the workforce. These three reasons are beneficial to Canada in various different ways, starting by helping Canada’s population grow, since it has been decreasing from because the past generations are not having as many babies as the generations before them have. In order to keep the economy growing, more migration is needed into the country. Additionally, the migrant workers that come into the country and work at such low wages makes it very beneficial for Canadians as well. Canada needs a lot of these kinds of migrant workers because they are the people that take on the dirty, hard-working jobs that most Canadians will not take.
Immigration has been and will continue to happen all around the world. There are so many reasons for people who come from different countries and ethnicities to move from country to country. The reasons why these people immigrate is either they are simply forced to, due to violence and hostility or that they are in search of a better life for them, and or their family etc. Canada being rated number one in quality of life has been a goal for people wanting to immigrate. The Immigration and Refugee Protection Act ( IRPA) was established by the Canadian government in the year 2002.
