Despite having a wide plethora of health problems, there's no question the UGA mascot is perfectly suited to cheer on the dawgs on behalf of the passionate fans the football games generate. The University of Georgia is well respected, academically, in large part due to its prestigious veterinary school. Some would find it ironic that a university, known for providing the highest quality veterinary care in the nation, employs one of the most vulnerable, unhealthy dog breeds to represent a strong and tough football team that isn't afraid of a challenge. Somehow, the university pulls it off and makes UGA easily the most likeable mascot in the SEC. Without UGA, the stadium would seem empty.
History of the term “Majors” and the Mascot The sideline mascot was created by the Spirit Committee of the SBA in the spring of 1985 when they began requesting mascot uniform designs. It first appeared on the field in the fall of 1985. There are two articles in the Purple and White documenting this. See Mar. 26, 1985, page 6 Here and Sept. 10, 1985 page 1 and 5. Prior to this time, the only visual representation of the athletic teams for Millsaps were the words “Majors,” which first appeared in the early 1900’s, the military “leaf,” which is the insignia for a major in the military, was used on jerseys and helmets, and the graphic seal of the college with the encircled line drawing of the college founder Major Millsaps’ head and shoulders.

A college mascot is a person wearing a costume that is thought to bring luck and represent the school. Mascots are often fictional representatives and are usually being used for merchandising. That is because the college mascot takes on the form of the school logo. During game day, college mascots are an integral part of the sports experience. The United States Constitution and the Iroquois Constitution both have many similarities and differences. However, the Iroquois Constitution came a couple centuries before the United States Constitution, so some of the ideas that were in the Iroquois Constitution are now included in the United States Constitution. But this does not mean these constitutions are the same, and this paper is going to help explain some of the ways they differ and share ideas. The first of the similarities is how the Iroquois have what they call the " Tree of Great Peace." This compares to what we have with the three branches of government.
In the article The Founding Sachems Mr. Mann gave reasons why the United States constitution was influenced by the Iroquois Indians. I disagree with him because the constitution was influenced by many people not just the indians. There has been some conflicts between settlers and indians in the past. If there were problems between the two why would they let the constitution be influenced by them?
In the article, A Word Gone Wrong by Lawrence Downes, Lawrence Downes emphasizes, “people can be thoughtless and cruel, or well-meaning, and never know the damage their words can do (Downes).” This statement clarifies the conception that the voices of others separates humans into stereotypes. Lawrence Downes realizes as an American citizen, we are granted the ability to voice our opinions passionately. Those opinions do not take into consideration demeaning language. Demeaning language defines a misleading character; therefore, political correctness should become a principle of life.
The author talks about how Indian mascots and logos perpetuate racism in schools. This relates to the Big Picture Question as those Indian logos and mascots put a stereotype on the people that go to that school. They may be called names that are specifically called to natives only. This all would go towards racism being implemented towards those kids and them being treated as different. I would answer the question the same way that the author did.
Since American Indians are shown through many mascots in this world, Americans get the idea that Indians have to look or act a certain type of way in order to be considered to be actually from the Indian culture. If a person doesn’t stereotypically have darker skin or have a specific bond with nature than they aren 't considered to be an American Indian. This is significant because people don’t realize that they are grouping all American Indian people into a category, just like they have done all throughout history with other cultures, when they are using Indians as mascots for sports team or etc and that they are downplaying and appropriating their heritage and traditions. Also, if people will realize and change the fact that they are unconsciously or consciously misrepresenting others then maybe humans will be able to maintain a world where there is equality for all subcultures. Basically, throughout countless examples in Hollywood films, Arabian people have been depicted to be very mean and violent people.
When naming the new high school you should take into consideration the name Eastwood High. The mascot should be a wild cat because of their fierce nature. A wild cat as the mascot would show opponents that we are not here to mess around and that we mean business as a school. Mascots are important for the students and the community because a mascot is a way to show pride. The students will want a powerful mascot so be proud of and wear the school logo with the wild cat in it.

Teams at any level of competition, in every sport, have a mascot. The mascot is essentially what represents the competitive spirt and identifies the team, motivating both fans, coaches, and players.
