In recent years, the net neutrality debate has come to the attention of public. According to an article published by Vickie S. Cook in 2014, the paradigm of net neutrality is that “information available via the Internet global network of computers should be shared regardless of what information is being sent and from whom without individual subscribers paying additional content delivery fees.” As one of the many supporters of net neutrality, I believe conditions such as the price for use, the speed, or the quality of network should not be determined by the purpose for internet uses and the amount of information shared. The Open Internet policies would have a significant impact in the development and sharing of applications (Cook, 2014). One obvious impact of net neutrality is communication. Imagine if our access to certain important content is blocked due to the loss of net neutrality, our rights to communicate with the person/group related to that particular content would have been simultaneously taken away. The loss of net neutrality can be a serious disadvantage for start-up companies since their access to vital contents is limited by their tight budget. This would further impede the development of a company. Another negative impact of net neutrality is its impact on students with lower economic status. Some students who have money will have access to better educational contents compared to students who don’t. Furthermore, Cook mentioned that removing net neutrality could be a potential problem for technology innovation
