The controversy on whether the best choice is to send a child to a public or a private school has been a continuous discussion since the start of the public school system. Many different researchers have gathered endless amounts of data and still cannot conclude or agree on which school can help a child further their education. Some researchers say that public schools are “more effective at teaching mathematics” (Source E). But there is also much research concluding that “students in Catholic high schools learn three grades' worth of reading and mathematics in two years; public high school students learn two grades' worth in two years” (Source B). From my personal experience I presume that private schools offer much more than a public school can even consider possible. Sending one child to a private school can cost parents tens of thousands of dollars over the course of 4 years and even more if you send them to a private school for junior high. These payments go “toward financing the school in addition to other amenities”, including books, teachers salaries, and new technological equipment for use in the classrooms. (Source D). Many parents do no think it is worth it to pay the tuition because they believe that private schools do not teach students how to “study hard, be disciplined, and self reliance” (Source F). However, private schools can offer students many technological advantages. Students can have access to learning equipment that public schools may not be able to afford. They are also more independent and have the opportunity to choose what they want to spend their money on.
