The aim of this paper is to give the reader research based information about the ethics and morals of the human race, are we all born with a clean slate or are we born with good or bad already hard-wired within us, are we shaped by society, our parents, or some even believe reincarnation could be a factor in this. The paper looks into scientific evidence for each side of the argument along with religious views and beliefs, examples of individual cases are given to show reasons for these findings. As a whole are we as humans good or bad and what evidence is there to support this. Fundamentally speaking are we as humans born good or bad and where does our morality come from.

One such test undertaken by Dr. Karen Wynn at Yale University’s infant cognition center, known as The Baby Lab shows this. Dr.Wynn, and her team started conducting experiments on children under the age of 24 months to see what , if anything these babies new about good and bad. Through a simple test using bears and puppets the babies had to make a choice, choose the bear that was helpful in the scenario or the bear that was causing the problem, all the precautions were taken in the experiments as to make sure there were no deciding influences during the child’s choice other than their own decision making. The results were conclusive, 80% of the children tested chose the good bear, Paul Bloom, a fellow professor at Yale has this to say about the findings; “these studies show that even before babies can speak or walk, they judge good and bad in the actions of others because they are born with a rudimentary sense of justice”,
