Technology has become a modern way for people to communicate with each other, build relationships, or meet new people. Social Media, online dating sites, and mobile devices make this easier—especially for children as well as sexual predators to socialize. Sexual predators or offenders now use modern technology to deceive young children of both genders, women or men, to snare them into a trap where they can be kidnapped, raped, or sold into prostitution. According to Grafton, Wis, 50,000 sexual predators are online just trolling for opportunities to connect with victims. Sexual predators use online websites because it is easier to hide their faces and easier to deceive people who are gullible, like young children who tend to be …show more content…
Predators are good at looking for their prey; they will find a person who feels emotionally separated from others or who has low self-esteem, like young middle school students who are going through puberty and trying to figure out themselves or children who are having issues at home. The predator will act like he or she cares about the child’s problems by listening, asking questions, and consoling them. These cause children to fall for these false concernments and be dependent on the predators when they feel conflicted by an issue. After the child has created a bond or friendship with the predator, the predator will try to convince the child to meet or get involved in a sexual relationship, or the child will be curious to meet the person he or she has been talking to for weeks online. Coby Persin, a YouTube star, tried a social experiment where he socialized with a thirteen-year-old girl, having permission from her father to see if she was foolish enough to try to meet this stranger. Persin posed as
Dealing with sexual offenders is not always an easy task to do. Many of the times, the offender will either cooperate or not cooperate. That being said, ATSA has set up a list of regulations that employees should considered. The one I thought were interesting was the fact that motivation inside of the facility and outside is crucial when it comes to the overall treatment of the offender (“ATSA Practice Guidelines and Ethics Order Form,” 2015). If, for example, the treatment is neglectful from the inside of the facility and no support is given by those at home, there’s a high chance that the offender will become an habitual criminal.
However, most states offer online browsers where you can search convicted sex offenders by name, city, or zip code. The information on this site usually provides the offenders last known address and information on the specifics of what type of crime they committed. In many states the sources provide a picture of the offender, and require offenders to put a sign in the window of their residency informing nearby citizens. The information will also be provided to local schools and
Why do sex offender’s receive less punishment for the hurt they cause to children and adults? In most cases there is very little jail time for sex offenders. And for many years, even in today’s society there has been a ongoing problem with sex offenders. According to the book Sentencing Sex Offenders “The U.S.Supreme Court said it bluntly in 2002: “Sex Offender’s are a serious threat in this nation” (Hudson Jr 10). You hear of a child getting kidnaped, raped and even killed by sex offenders.
Due to this minors are able to use the website without the knowledge of the website, this means that it is still restricted for sex offenders solely because of the possibility of a minor being present on the site. This restricts almost every website including college sign-up websites, amazon, and even google search engine. The internet is such a part of human life that it is now considered a basic human right by the united nations. If the law is so broad that sex offenders are advised to just avoid it entirely, then they are being denied the basic human rights that all people have. According to Amnesty International “Human rights are basic rights and freedoms that all people are entitled to regardless of
Stories of sex offenders have been progressively the main focus by the criminal justice system over the previous years. By lawful definition, a sex offender "is a person who is convicted of a sexual offense (Sex Offender Law and Legal Definition)," a demonstration which is forbidden by the jurisdiction. What constitutes as a sex offense or regular/irregular sexual conduct differs among time and place, implying that it also depends on jurisdiction and culture. In the United States, a man can be sentenced many varieties of sexual offenses that incorporates prostitution, interbreeding, sex with a minor, assault, and other sex offenses (Sex Offender Law and Legal Definition). As the way of sex violations have long held the country 's interest, it speaks to just the tip of the ice burg as sex offenses appear to raise more doubts than it does answers.
Community correctional officers can supervise individual sex offenders with a number of different strategies. The sex offender requires certain supervisions as well as different treatments. For community correctional officers to monitor these sex offenders with personalized supervision plans there has been electronic monitoring. For those offenders who are considered “high risk” offenders there has been a near-real time monitoring, which has an active GPS and a passive GPS are used on those with a lower risk. A strategic method to help reach and treat these offenders would be to put them through different treatment programs and every sex offender requires treatment, but those more severe would then require a more serious treatment.
Selling yourself for profit might possibly be the only way for some people to survive or to provide for their family. It maybe an easier choice to believe that it is an empowering decision they have made than to face the blunt and harsh reality of child sexual, physical, and mental abuse, done by the pimps that prey on the young women and men alike. The second reason people can be involved in sex trafficking is because they were either lured or kidnapped and don 't have any kind choice or say in what they
" It's the electronic transmission of damaging words and photos, and it allows predators to reach victims stealthily and anonymously through online means.
It is dangerous because it is initially deceitful. One of these dangerous include sexual predators. According to an online article entitled Negatives of Online Dating written by Julius Vandersteen, 25 percent of rapists found their rape victims through online dating databases (Vandersteen). From this, it can be concluded that everyone that posts a profile onto a cyber medium does not always have good intentions. As these sites are easily accessible, these cyber mediums also provide gateways to victims for those with malicious
Sexual Predators in the Eyes of Society Female sexual offenders are treated differently than male sexual offenders even though they both commit serious crimes. Females are not seen as sexual predators in the eyes of society because when a woman commits a sexual assault it is considered a fantasy come true and not taken seriously. If a male sexual predator commits that same assault, it would be taken very seriously and he would be severely punished. Female sexual predators are treated less harshly than males by the law and the press because they are not seen as predators who could commit such crimes. Puryear Law defines sexual assault under Illinois state law as “an act of sexual penetration by the use of force or threat of force.”
Introduction Everyday people wake up and turn on their electronic devices, whether it be their phone, tv, computer, to see what is going on in the world. It seemed that it is becoming more common for the most extreme or intense situations are highlighted first and most in depth throughout all of the news. One pattern that I have continued to notice more and more is the appearance of relationships between adults and children or better known as pedophile type relationship. This seemingly never ending coverage of these relationships intrigued my interest into looking deeper into the reasons behind these pedophilic relationships. I wanted to look at the research done that examines and explains different components of why adults are attracted
(Peter, 2004, para. 6). With this rise of computer technology and finding faster ways for people to communicate, remain connected, share photos online and exchange thoughts or ideas. Social media has more recently become a forum whereby like-minded people are able to meet each other and if they so desire, begin meaningful relationships. This form of modern communication has several effects on family relationships and the health and well-being of individuals and community. Social media bullying is an ethical issue, causing many young children to endure emotional harm that can eventually lead to suicide. Moreover, statistics show that secondary students are more likely to engage in bullying online and that 1 in 5 young people under 18 (20%) had reported experiencing online bullying (bullying No way, 2018). This corroborates with No Bullying, which also statistically says that 463,000 children were victims of online bullying in 2013. Hence, social media is a way for moral evil to become a part of many young children’s lives. Nevertheless, social media has become a way to raise money for charities and make positive changes to the world.
Violence through online access is very common these days, considering some children are not aware of what others think of them. The lack of protection could make them vulnerable to the harsh world of the internet. Harsh people these days tend to show no mercy since they could care less about the opposing person 's feelings. Other than that, they become influenced to continue wrongdoings because others encourage it through their actions.

Therefore, multiple regulation and prevention method can be performed to make the current method more comprehensive. In response to the problem of cyber safeties, the current prevention method adopt is to emphasize the dangers of meeting an online friend in real life.
