Following my “revelation” about the negatives of sports drinks, I set out to find alternatives that would be better for my health, but would still offer taste benefits. One popular alternative that I have found is coconut water. According to research from Lynne Kammer, coconut water has been found to be as effective at rehydrating athletes as water and sports drinks. Additionally, coconut water has fewer calories than most sports drinks. It also gives athletes many wholesome nutrients, compared to drinks such as Gatorade that are full of artificial colors and added sugars. Many athletes religiously drink the fruity beverage, including professional tennis player John Isner, who says the drink prevented his legs from cramping, “even in the hottest
Investigative Question: Does tap water, Powerade or orange juice contain more electrolytes? Hypothesis: Powerade will contain the most electrolytes as millions of Rands are spent on engineering these drinks to rehydrate athletes as effectively as possible. Every generation has that “one athlete” that defies all boundaries and expectations of their respected sport. The player that you pass down stories about to your children, grandchildren, and even great-grandchildren. The player that you appreciate how privileged you were to be able to watch them play day in and day out and grow with them throughout their careers. For most, these athletes have redefined every facet of the sport they associate with, and for millions of soccer fans around the world, Abby Wambach is the person that has become that athlete. Recently in the light of Wambach announcing her retirement from international soccer, Gatorade released a commercial that was felt around the world by millions.
Sports drinks high in sodium, potassium, magnesium, and calcium can help retain fluids, and proper fluid balance contributes to optimal performance. Sodium is the most important electrolyte to monitor during exercise or play. High losses of sodium, typically through sweat, can lead to muscle cramps, which can lead to decreased performance and possibly more major health complications. Sodium losses in sweat are greater than any other electrolyte. Potassium, along with sodium helps prevent muscle cramps.

Gatorade was founded in the summer of 1965 when a University of Florida assistant coach sat down with a team of physicians to determine why so many players were being affected by the heat and its illnesses. Two key factors were determined by the group of researchers: the fluids and electrolytes lost were not being replaced, and the large amounts of carbohydrates used for energy were not being replenished. The researchers went to the lab and formulated a balanced carbohydrate – electrolyte drink that would replace the key factors the Gator players lost through practice and games. That is how the name ‘Gatorade’ came to be. This commercial has a strong ethos, pathos and logos with professional athletes and voice overs of ethos, music, visuals

Alcohol can have grave effects on anyone who consumes high amounts of the drug. It has damaging effects on a person’s mind, body, and lifestyle. Drinking has become very common on college campuses, and more students are engaging in binged drinking. In this easy, I will analyze how alcohol effects a college athlete’s performance and recovery, behavior, psychological state, and their long term health. From the research evaluated, alcohol has been used not only as a suppressant for stress, but also as a social norm in institutions across the county, and the world as well.
When we think of the military we think of men and women fighting in a war defending our country for our freedom. But, do we think of men and women under the age of twenty one consuming alcohol while being underage? That is a topic that people have been debating since our country has been in any war. In the military drinking is part of the culture.
Being a person of sports and fitness, the brand ‘Gatorade’ is quite familiar. Gatorade isn't just any sports drink but a sports drink that is known for its exquisite taste and excellent job at replacing ones electrolytes. Gatorade is a beverage most enjoy but for athletes it is practically a blessing. The world known drink motivates and pushes its athletes to go above and beyond and to be sure to hydrate as well. In one of the many Gatorade commercials out there, I was able to see as to how Gatorade used ethos, pathos and logos to both amuse and convince its audience.
The main question that most people in today's world can not answer is, “is college student athletes employees or are they just students who represent their school by playing sports?” The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) sees them as student athletes who represents their schools by playing sports for their college or university. ¨Several critics questioned why the city was making proposal on sugary drinks a priority when some city schoolchildren have no physical education classes.¨ (Washington TImes) In New York, Mayor Bloomberg placed a law on the sizes of soda citizens are allowed to get. However, this caused a lot of controversy on whether the ban was good or bad. Despite the amount of people supporting the ban´s choice, the ban does have some downsides on it. It is not a good idea to limit the amount of a soda a person can purchase (or propose the ban) because it's not applying to all, it's taking rights away from people, and itś not a big deal.
Since all sports drink products all have the same purpose, consumers would find it difficult to decide which the best product is for them and this is why the sports drink industry relies heavily on marketing. Gatorade opts to raise the price of its product to suggest premium quality, whilst Powerade opts to have a lower price, sacrificing the profit margin for higher sales (Investopedia, 2017). Since Gatorade was the first company to enter in the sports drinks market, it has the biggest
