The Compromise of 1850 was an effort by the United States Congress that was drafted by Henry Clay, who was both the U.S. Senator and the House Representative of Kentucky. This compromise was a series of acts passed in 1850, attempted to reconcile Northern and Southern interests to preserve the Civil War. After the start of the Mexican-American War, conflicts about whether to allow slavery in those new territories to polarized Northern and Southern of the United States raised up. Northerners were in favor the Compromise, since they thought it’s a good chance to stop slavery. On the other hand, Southerners were against it, they thought it threatened their political power because the join of territory--California would disturb the balance of 15 free states and 15 slave states.
The North had beaten the South in the Civil War. The North won the war for many reasons; they had some advantages over the South, a great leader, and the desire to win. The North and South fought many battles before the Civil War ended. Each battle had a different outcome and some encouraging the fight and some ended in despair.
The brutality of war has scarred and devastated the world since the beginning of time, and has drastically changed over the course of history. Many precious lives of loved ones have been lost to war and continue to as fighting rages on. Famous Revolutionary War hero, George Washington, stated “My first wish [as president] is to see this plague of mankind, war, banished from the earth” (George Washington Quotes). General Washington witnessed the terror of war while fighting for independence from Great Britain. Against his wishes, war and violence continued as history went on. Many years after the American Revolution, conflicts between two halfs of the United States resulted in 620,000 casualties, which was roughly 2% of the population at the time. “The Civil War was America’s bloodiest
Following the prologue, Lemann focuses his research on Adelbert Ames, a Republican politician in Mississippi during the Reconstruction era, to detail the attempts to keep the south in accordance to Reconstruction policies issued by the Grant administration and federal government directly following the war. While he was initially appointed as provisional governor of Mississippi, Ames oversaw the 1869 election that passed the new Mississippi constitution, guaranteed rights for blacks and elected a heavily Republic legislature. While attempting to transform the political climate of the state, Ames listened to horrifying reports of his political enemies and observed the attitudes towards blacks which motivated him to campaign to be Governor:
The civil war brought down slavery which was a big part of the United States back then. The northern part of America did not like the ways the south had and treated slaves. So they started a war about it which had begun with the battle of Fort Sumter which started on April 12, 1861 and ended two days later. About 620,000 people had died in the four years the American Civil War had taken place.
Even though by the end of the Civil War each side had lost thousands of their men, and much of their morale, both the Union and the Confederate States of America had advantages through the beginning years of the war.

The tension created a conflict that raised a number of political, social, and military events that then proceeded into a battle to abolish slavery from the colonies. There were many pros and conflicts following this war, which will be the main focus of this paper.
The Civil War was caused by three main reasons are economic differences, interpretation of Constitution, and moral beliefs.
Although the Civil War was expected to be a quick victory due to Northern superiority in supplies and number of men, the continuation of the war for months and then years told a different story. Though subtle, the South did have advantages, such as more competent generals, greater will power, and better strategy. These less obvious advantages allowed the South to prolong the Civil War beyond what anyone could have imagined. Long term causes such as he South’s superior generals, and the North’s abundance of supplies, paved the way for medium term causes such as greater Southern morale, and Northern delay in attacking the South. The short-term causes are the ones that are more obvious catalysts for lengthening the war, such as the Southern victory at the Battle of Bull Run. The different ranges of causation are pieced together and allowed the South to
The North had many advantages one of these was Abraham Lincoln, the north also had a larger population, and a large advantage at 5-to-two in military power. Not only were they large in population the Union was also very wealthy and controlled shipping. The North also had industrial power, more railroads, and more land. As you can see the United States had many more advantages than the Rebels, but they also have quite a few disadvantages. One disadvantage was that the Northern armies had little motivation because they weren't fighting for a cause. Not only that but the officers were not aggressive enough. The Union was also very var from home base, and the large enemy coastline made it hard to blockade. Not only was the coastline big
The American Revolution War was fought from 1775 to 1783. This war was also known as the American War of Independence and the Revolutionary War. For starters, the American Revolution was fought between Great Britain and thirteen British colonies The 13 colonies were sick of being mistreated and finally decided to stand up for themselves by going to war. Even though the colonies were fighting with a lot of disadvantages, after almost a decade of war, they manage to come together and defeat Great Britain.
War is happening all over the world and is an important issue in society. Why would one nation fight another? Is it for power? Whatever the reason may be, war is definitely leaves an impact on one’s life. War is a pitiful cause that can invoke an inevitable negative change within one. The story dates back to the early 1900’s when the First World War had occurred. Xavier tells a story where throughout it, he and his best friend, Elijah, slowly sever their friendship. Also, there were important events in the story that helped show the how war can change a human. Joseph Boyden uses the setting, character development and key plot events to indicate the negative influence war has on a human.
The Southern and Northern states differentiate on many issues, which ultimately led them towards a Civil War. There stood deep social, economic, and political disparities between the North and the South. These modifications stemmed from the understanding of the United States Constitution on both sides. In the end, most of these disputes about the rights of states directed to the Civil War. There existed reasons other than slavery on behalf of the South 's breakaway. The demonstrations of division in America coexisted many: utopian societies, clashes over public space, backlash alongside immigrants, urban rebellions, black demonstration, and Indian oppositions. America was a separated land in need of change with the South in the biggest demand. The South trusted heavily on agriculture, equally opposed to the North, which was vastly populated and an industrialized union. The South produced cotton, which remained its main cash crop and countless Southerners knew that hefty reliance on slave labor would damage the South ultimately, but their forewarnings were not regarded. The South was constructed on a totalitarian system.
Reading Seymour Hersh 's article, there is a ditch in the village of My Lai. Crowded with dead bodies, dozens of women, old people and children by the American soldiers. Those people fighting in armed conflict. I feel like every war in the past and every war in the future is all the same, but if war resulted in peace now it would be better after hundreds years of death and wars. The crazy part of the war is that people went and made the same mistake over and over again. I can just imagine the pain and sadness people go threw. Reading this article made my eyes watery because I can imagine myself sending soldiers to kill and be killed. Also having your mother and your four siblings dead, you would never forget the pain. I would like to know
