World War II was a very brutal war that lasted from the years 1939-1945. There are a ton of different heroes from World War II. There is a variety of reasons as to why they are considered heroes and where their home countries are from. General Ulsterman Robert Blair Mayne, who was otherwise known as Patty ,was one of these heroes along with Bernard Montgomery. During the war there were also many sacrifices taken. Franklin D. Before he was enlisted in the war, he played Rugby in Ireland. Then Commando noticed his outstanding fighting skills he recruited Paddy. He was recruited into 2IC. Ulsterman has a person count for destroying enemies that is well into the hundreds. He destroyed hundreds of enemy air crafts. Because of this, “Ultersman was nominated for VC for actions in Northern Germany.” His bravery and amazing accomplishments even got the king's attention. When General Ulsterman Robert Blair Mayne or ‘’Paddy’’, passed away, he was remembered by many. His funeral was a mile long. All these actions that he has taken are reasons as to why General Robert Blair Mayne was a true hero from World War II. There were also many sacrifices that were made during World War II. On the German side of the war, Hitler was the leader in charge. Hitler kept his guard up and kept a close eye on his enemies. He kept two fronts of the war after he broke off attacks with British allies. Meanwhile, Bernard Montgomery, was a leader who helped send British troops back to where they were before. World War Two caused the death of millions of innocent people and the destruction of thousands of years of civilisation through the viciousness of mankind. World War Two started on the 3rd of September 1939 when the allied forces declared war against Germany after the unprovoked attack of Poland and didn’t end until 1945 with the defeat of the Japanese imperial forces. The battle of Kokoda began on July 21st 1942 when the Japanese imperial army invaded Papua New Guinea with the intent of capturing Port Moresby and using it as a launching point onto Australian soil. The battle ended on January 23rd 1943, resulting in an Allied victory. There were four peoples at war in Kokoda, those were the Australians and the Americans, who were allied.

He had a life full of needs and hard work, disappointments and frustrations, and became an example of perseverance and endurance. Liam O’Flaherty’s realistic fiction story, “The Sniper” takes place in Dublin, Ireland. The main character is a sniper fighting a civil war. He is on the Republican side who is fighting against the Free Staters. He does not put a lot of thought into his actions and it ends up costing him something big in the end. By using irony and description O’Flaherty shows that action without thought can lead to serious repercussions.
