Zaroff was a general that owns a island called ship trap, he captures stranded people and hunts them down for a living. In the Wife’s story the main character was the husband and the author focused more on him by explaining the character thoroughly. Although the characters are completely different in “The Wife’s Story” and “ The Most Dangerous Game” both authors set the mood by exploding the moment and using characterization. That contributed to how we imagine the character in terms of how he looks and acts. In the first story “ The Most Dangerous Game” the main character Rainsford is being hunted by Zaroff the owner of Ship Trap island.
In the short story, “The Most Dangerous Game,” the main character Rainsford had gotten stranded on a dangerous island where Zaroff, a Russian Cossack General, hunted humans for sport. He feels that God put the weak on earth to give the strong pleasure, and up until it was his turn to be hunted, so did Rainsford. Earlier in the story Rainsford had stated, “The world is made up of two classes-- the hunters and the huntees.” And as harsh as it may sound, it is technically correct. The world is made of hunters and huntees, predator and prey. In fact, there are several hunters in the story The Most Dangerous Game.
General Zaroff still didn’t care for Ivan, after he took his life to save General Zaroff. Another example is he enjoyed hunting humans because he said himself, he had to find a challenge, or he would fall “to
Although, interestingly enough, when Equiano wrote about the spectacle, he didn’t mention himself taking any part in it. Using the words like "my countrymen" and "they", Olaudah excluded himself entirely from any sort of outward dissent towards his captors--however, that does not mean he didn’t acquire an intense resentment too. It is quite possible to infer that his subtle yet uncompromising persistence to survive, overrode his desire for retribution. Olaudah Equiano must have known that the actions his companions were recklessly executing were

My bully was the hunter and I was considered the huntee. In a hunting sense, hunters physically hurt their prey by killing the huntee. Even though the book and the film are different they have very similar theme, that affect the story. "But you can 't mean—" gasped Rainsford” (Conell, 12). General Zaroff tells Rainsford he hunts the one animal that can reason, Rainsford knows only one animal can reason which is human but couldn’t imagine he actually hunted humans. Will is about to beat up Harvey and kill him but then someone says he can’t do that and Will listens. The themes are almost the same because it is when it’s ok to kill men and when it isn’t, it only is ok in self defense of you or another person.
According to Merriam-Webster Dictionary a Sadist is, “Someone who has delight in cruelty.” The antagonist, General Zaroff from Richard Connell’s short story, Most Dangerous Game is a sadist. He waits for people to wash ashore and harbors them until he thinks they’re ready to go “hunting”. To General Zaroff hunting is trying to kill a human in a 3-day span. Throughout this story General Zaroff shows components of being a sadist; he does not have a conscience, he is patient, and he is malevolent.
“The Most Dangerous Game” by Richard Connell is a story about a man, Sanger Rainsford, whose ideals and overall character change throughout the story, specifically about hunting, due to his encounter with General Zaroff. As well as, in “The Most Dangerous Game” Rainsford used is craftiness to show what it takes to be a survivor by being hunted by General Zaroff. In the story, Rainsford prepared a contraption that General Zaroff did not realize and he was struck in the shoulder by a lifeless tree. That also gave him another night to create another contraption so kill General Zaroff.
Rainsford did not like Zaroff, the war general, one bit as a human being. (appositive) Rainsford thought what Zaroff was doing is cold-blooded murder. Rainsford is not wrong the general really is killing humans for the enjoyment. Rainsford explains that he is a hunter and does not use his skills to hunt down people and kill them. Rainsford doesn’t understand why any human would do such a thing.
