The purple heart bead represents my parents’ divorce. When I was nine years old, my parents got a divorce. My sister was exceedingly upset about the news of my parents getting a divorce; however, I was actually quite happy. My parents always fought, and I knew it would be a significant change for my family. We lived in Colorado at the time, but my mother took my sister and I back to Minnesota. My whole family lives in Minnesota, and my dad gave up all of his rights to us. Needless to say, this would the last time I would ever really see my father again. I knew the divorce was good for my parents; however, I had a hard time adjusting to the fact that my dad wanted nothing to do with us. From the ages 9 to about 12, I had a hard time dealing

The most important themes in literature are sometimes developed in scenes in which a death or deaths take place, which helps to illuminate the meaning of the book. Ali’s death helps Matt to fight Traumatic Brain injury, find how dangerous war can be, and realize the things that are important. Matt wakes up in an army medic camp to learn he has received a Purple Heart. The problem is that Matt can not remember anything that happened during the war.

Holt M.D. wrote to his wife, “Shortly [we encountered] a rebel with his brains blown out, arms extended, and eyes protruding from their sockets, some not yet dead but grasping the few remaining breaths away in utter unconsciousness, others mortally wounded calling for water knowing that eternity was separated only by a hair’s breadth… I have seen what I never once expected I should see.” Dr. Holt of the 121st New York Army further describes the carnage and horror that he and countless other Civil War surgeons encountered in letters and journals written during his experience in the war. Thank you Veterans Veterans do a lot for us by defending our country and our home. We thank them by having a full day dedicated to our veterans. Three reasons that I think veterans should be thanked for are; going out to defend our country when no ones else does, I also want to thank you for demonstrating a great work ethic and doing all of this work for people you don’t even know. The first thing I want to thank you for was for defending our country.
My mom had my father walk out on her when she had a two year old and a newborn. My dad walked out on her birthday and went with someone else. This is an emotionally traumatizing hardship
As a daughter of a United States Marine, I have a real-life perspective on veterans. I have deep respect for my father, and all veterans who have put their lives on the line for America. My heart really goes out to those soldiers fighting this very moment. My brother-in-law has an old high school friend that went into the National Guard. While this friend was away he encountered a form of great disrespect.

When Don was awarded The Purple Heart, his family was honored. It was then that they were able to fully comprehend the obstacles he went through, and how his injury wasn’t something that was insignificant. The award is one of the most respected and recognized medals that one can be presented with, and also one of the nation’s oldest military awards. The award had “broken service” because it was ignored for nearly 150 years, and was later reintroduced on 22 February, 1932 on George Washington’s 200th birthday (“The Purple Heart” par. 1). To receive The Purple Heart, one has to perform a singularly meritorious act of extraordinary fidelity service and has a wound which needs treatment by a medical officer and which is received in action with
