Throughout my life music has always played a big part. I was always attracted to all different styles and I could just listen to music for hours on end. There’s something about listening to a song that can take you to a completely different place. A song can make you re-feel some emotions you may have lost. It may empower you to go for that one goal you’ve been too scared to achieve. Music has also had ability to get me through some of the toughest times I’ve had to endure such as, my parent 's divorce, and a time in my life where I was bullied a lot. When I went through these things my mom had me listen to two very special songs that I will still play whenever I feel the hurt I had during those times. They gave me a sense of empowerment but also made me feel like it was okay to feel those emotions that had been dominating that season of my life. The songs “Beautiful” by Christina Aguilera and “Stronger (What Doesn 't Kill You)” by Kelly Clarkson has become a way for me to reflect on where I’ve been, who I was, and who I’ve now become. “Beautiful” was recorded in 2002 for Christina’s album Stripped. Christina feels as though she put her heart and soul into not just the song, but also the entire album. The song shows the insecurities that Christina felt so strongly in her life. Throughout the whole music video you see all types of people telling their stories without even speaking, you just see it in their eyes and faces.
