Peristalsis is spontaneous or reflexive movements of the longitudinal and circular muscles, that happens in progressive wavelike contractions, fundamentally in the digestive tract but some times it also occurs in other hollow tubes of the body.In the human body esophagus, stomach, and intestines are the main parts in which peristaltic waves arise. These waves can be momentary, local reflexes or prolonged, consecutive contractions that are transmitted to the whole length of the organ, relying upon their location and what beginstheir action.Peristalsis has its importance in movement of food in digestive system, passing of urine from kidneys to bladder, bile passing from gallbladder to duodenum etc. The phenomenon of peristalsis is also feasible …show more content…
The process of peristalsis starts in the oesophagus when a bolus of food is gulp down. The food is brought to the stomach by the strong wave-like motions of the smooth muscle in the oesophagus, where it is churned into a liquid compositioncalled chyme. The process of peristalsis proceeds in the small intestine where it blends the chyme byits to and fro motion and here nutrients are absorbed into the bloodstream through the small intestine walls. Peristalsis ended in the large intestine where water is absorbed into the bloodstreamfrom the undigested food constituent. Finally, the residual waste products are expelled from the body through the rectum and anus.
Abnormal peristaltic movement can be an element in irritable bowl syndrome, diarrhea, constipation, and other intestinal problems. It is believed that the ingestion of green leafy vegetables, including lettuce are helpful in aiding the abnormal peristaltic
The proper functioning of one system relies on the proper functioning of the other system. In other words, the digestive system needs to be in good working order to support the functions of the cardiovascular system. An example of the digestive and cardiovascular systems interrelating is: the first step in digestion of fat is to dissolve it into the intestine where bile acids produced by the liver dissolve the fat into fatty acids and cholesterol. The bile acids join with the fatty acids and cholesterol and vessels then carry the changed fat to the veins of the chest, and the blood carries the fat to storage in different parts of the body.
Science 1. Free ears in dogs are controlled by dominant allele (F), and attached ears are controlled by the recessive allele (f). FfSs c. ffSs d. Ffss 2.
Vegetables/Fruits need to be finely chopped, these include greens: collared, dandelion, mustard and kale, yellow squash, zucchini and shredded carrots. Iceberg lettuce is not recommended because it might cause diarrhoea because of the high water content which may result in dehydration. Daily feeding of fruit and veg is required.
Name: Rita Thomas Causative Agent: Clostridium perfringens Disease: Gas Gangrene, food poisoning Classification of the causative agent: C. perfringens is a gram-positive, rod shaped, anaerobic, spore-forming, pathogenic bacterium of the genus Clostridium. It is usually present in nature and often can be found in components of decaying vegetation. The spores of the organism persist in soil, different types of sediments, and areas that are subject to human or animal fecal contamination. It frequently occurs in the intestinal tract of humans and other vertebrates, insects, and soil.
If you have a condition like this in your family, then you should really be aware and get checked by a gastroenterologist who specialize in this
Irritable bowl syndrome can make daily activities unbearable. Patients usually experience chronic diarrhea or chronic constipation. Fortunately, sticking to an IBS diet plan can relief the symptoms of IBS. Doctors can prescribe medications to treat IBS, but starting a new nutrition plan has been proven to relive symptoms for many people dealing with IBS. Increase Soluble Fiber and Avoid Insoluble Fiber Fiber is an important part of a healthy diet, but eating too much insoluble fiber can cause digestion problems.
Next, this semi-liquid mixture enters into the small intestine, where most of the calories and essential nutrients are absorbed by your body. Finally, whatever is left passes into the large intestine and eventually through the colon as it is expelled from the body. Gastric bypass surgery restructures the stomach and intestinal system, resulting in intentional malabsorption and limiting the patient 's ability to eat large quantities of food.
Intestinal Pseudo Obstruction Caleb Roth American Military University Abstract Intestinal Pseudo Obstruction (IPO) is a rare and incurable disease in the gastrointestinal tract that is characterized by the inability to move food through the digestive tract. A dysfunction with the nerves, muscles or interstitial cells causes intestinal pseudo obstruction. Prognosis for the acute form of intestinal pseudo obstruction is incurable but can get better with treatment. However, prognosis for a chronic form of intestinal pseudo obstruction is also incurable and can worsen over time even while undergoing treatment.
Kidney stones have been found throughout history. Scientists found evidence of kidney stones in a 7,000-year-old Egyptian mummy. Kidney stones can also be called renal stones, renal calculi, or by the medical names nephrolithiasis and urolithiasis. Kidney stones (calculi) are solid or semi-solid mineral-like substances occurring in the urinary tract. The urinary tract consists of the kidneys, ureters, bladder, and urethra.
The digestive system is responsible for chemically and mechanically breaking down food and includes organs such as, mouth, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, rectum, anus, and additional accessory organs. These organs all aid in the breakdown of food. Food is broken down mechanically by chewing and churning in the stomach, and chemically by acidic enzymes in the stomach and in the small intestine which receives enzymes from the pancreas that are specifically designed for the breakdown of nutrients. Once the food and nutrients are broken down, the excretory system removes whatever the body decides is waste by filtering blood in the nephrons of the kidneys and turning it into urine which is then collected in the bladder and removed from the body when the bladder is
It also recommended that the winter and spring, always two days a month, every two hours took per tablespoon lemon juice or to be 7-8 times a day to eat the rind of the lemon. HERNIA Introduction Hernia is an abnormal protrusion of internal organs through an abnormal opening in the wall of the cavity. A combination of increased pressure inside the body with weakness in the wall is responsible for this condition. In this condition internal organs or parts of organs are protruded out forming a swelling which will increase the size with coughing and lifting weight, and while passing stool and urine. In lying down position the swelling goes inside except in strangulated and irreducible hernia.
Nasal intubation is a commonly practiced airway management technique in oral and maxillofacial surgeries. Complications can occur at different levels during intubation through the nasal passage such as haemorrhage, turbinectomy and many cases reported even during extubation. This article describes a case of difficult extubation of naso-tracheal tube caused by the cuff inflation channel (pilot tube) encircling the inferior turbinate and logding between the turbinates. To our literary knowledge; no cases have been reported with such unique problem resulting in difficult extubation. This case report highlights that not only the tracheal tube or the cuff, but also the pilot tube can cause problems during extubation, and such an event is difficult to identify.
The digestive system is located around the stomach area. Along with the digestive system, many other organ systems all work together to create an organism. An example of this would be if a person eats a sandwich and then goes for a run. During the run, the circulatory system helps the body breathe, the muscle system helps the bones move, and all the while the digestive system digests the food. Later on, the excretory system gets rid of the waste, or food that the body can’t use for nourishment.
