The Renaissance Artist: Jan Van Eyck

In Mantegna’s painting, he created a sky with chubby, child figures and women around them. The realism of the perspective made the art one of the most beautiful ceilings decorated during the early Renaissance. The art wasn’t famously known until the time of Correggio, an important northern Italian painter of the early sixteenth century, who created the same type of painting in the domes in Parma, Italy. In Mantegna’s later years when he began to get old and have bad health, he worked thoroughly during the remaining years of his life. Mantegna painted the Parnassus, a picture celebrating the marriage of Isabelle d’Este to Francesco Gonzaga in 1947.

Searching for a painting that really spoke to me was hard, I was searching for quite a while, until I found Bedroom in Arles. There are many things in this painting that would catch a viewer 's eye; the reason the painting caught my eye was because it was much more vibrant and colorful that all the other artworks I saw, that is why it attracted me. “Bedroom in Arles created” in 1888 by the word renowned artist Vincent Van Gogh was painted to represent himself, who he was as a person, and the life he lived. That is what Van Gogh is trying to convey to the viewer in this painting, he did this with the use of vibrant colors, the thick brushstrokes used, the many different and odd parts of this painting, and the texture of the items in the painting. Van Gogh’s use of color, and his bold color choices is what really attracted me to this painting, it stood out like a sore thumb from all the other paintings.

His art was often criticized for being too daring, even deviant in his lifetime. Today he is acknowledged as Vienna’s most important painter. Gustav Klimt, the painter of beautiful women, the master of patterns and metallic colors, was born in July 14 1862 in Vienna. One of the large ripples that Da Vinci created was his studying of anatomy which had influence in all of his creations both in his inventions and art. In his art, the emphasis on portraying the correct function of nature was of the highest importance. “Da Vinci’s powers of observation and skill as an illustrator enabled him to notice and recreate the effects he saw in nature, adding a special liveliness to his portraits.” Each one of his pieces conveys some kind of movement or directs the eye to focus one certain aspects of the painting which was a new technique during his time. From a viewer’s point of view, people can see that his paintings are colorful, beautiful composition, and all his paintings have story. Rubens thinks that color is just important as the emotion and acting, so he chose the moment when David taken his swords is about to cut the head of his adversary, the acting itself. The style that Rubens used was a very good use of color, he emphasizing the movement; people can see the acting that David is taking.

These artists have created a huge impact on the importance of art along with giving more of a historic background. Each artist paints and or sculpts pieces that show human emotions, religious symbolism, and extreme detail. Leonardo da Vinci is the first artist to be discussed because of his popularity. He is best known for the Mona Lisa. The Mona Lisa was a portrait of a woman that developed a meaning, people said it’s a symbol of the Renaissance information which came from this quote.

However, Caravaggio used the light to represent Jesus, which means Jesus is everywhere. This leaves the viewers with a sense of wonder. The identity of the sitter is unknown adding to the mystery behind the Mona Lisa.
