Springfield has had an increase in homeless over the years and the increase between 2015 and 2016 was significant. However, this rise coincided with Springfield removing the supportive resources the homeless had depended on. One important resource being taken away are the organizations that gave free aid to the homeless, such as Goodwill. Goodwill provides education, job training, and affordable clothing to the homeless. Another support system being eliminated is the camps that are a home to many of Springfield’s homeless. The homeless rely on these camps for a stable living environment.
