Artifice is the act of appearing genuine and innocent while actually only looking out for your own selfish interests at other’s expense. Lucy lies about the author of the love letter to Sir luscious stating it was Lydia, when it was actually Mrs. Malaprop. David acts a con to make himself appear more socially acceptable than he really is; Jack impersonated Beverly the ensign. Jack asks Fag to lie; Fag lies to Sir Anthony and Faulkland lies to Julia. Another prominent theme is the opposition between courtship and falling in love. Back in the eighteenth century young lovers were arranged based by their social class. Marriage was often forced, as we see in The Rivals, Lydia is forced to marry a well-suited boy who fits her own social class, while the boy she loves is looked down upon for being penniless. Meanwhile they are the same boy. The different dialogues show diverse types of language spoken. The language of sentiment is shown within Lydia and Faukland. Lydia loves to read her romantic novels, and falls in love no matter the social class. Faukland is in love with Julia, and yet is too hung up with the jealousy. They both use the language of love. The play is filled with artful use of language, which makes it delightful to
“Being a hero doesn’t mean you're invincible, it just means that you're brave enough to stand up and do what's needed, “says a sagacious man named Rick Riordan . Often times you see heroes on television who have super strength of flying powers, but heroes come in many different forms of people. Irena Sendler for example, was a great hero. Not many people know the name of Irena Sendler, she had done something big that impacted and saved the lives of many jews. Some heroes may be fictional as well.

After reading The Westing Game by Ellen Raskin, Turtle is a dynamic character. At the beginning of the book, Turtle has a strong personality; eventually, Turtle becomes trustworthy and soft. These character traits were observed through Turtle’s actions, relationships, and problems. I loved this book and would recommend the book to anyone who loves mystery and excitement. This book connects to my life by having the main character, Turtle Wexler/T.R Wexler, remind me exactly like one of my best friends.
Although the novel, The Crucible took place a long time ago, the ideas and aspects of the play connect strongly to our current lives. A common theme that relates to modern America is greed. Abigail Williams, who takes part in the majority of the play definitely is the instigator of issues. All of the town 's problems somehow connect back to her. The strongest connections to me are the use of rumors, peer pressure, and wanting to gain power.
The quote “Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass it’s about learning how to dance in the rain” means that we should learn how to our lives even at struggling times of our lives. There are times when we are feeling down or going through tough times. Weather it’s bad grades or a tragic event. I can make a text to text connection from this quote. In the book “We Beat The Street” by George W Jenkins, Rameck Hunt, and Sampson Davis, is about a how three african americans from Newark, New Jersey became successful doctors.
“The ways in which the characters in Lorraine Hansberry’s play, A raisin in the sun, are affected by racial imbalances and respond to the injustices engendered by such inequities are solely influenced by their gender.” I agree with this statement to an extent. Although it is correct that gender plays a big role in this play, there are other factors to consider. Context:
Although the most popular relationship of the piece, Romeo and Juliet’s courtship in “Romeo and Juliet” was arguably one of the most unhealthy relationships of the play, and one of the most unhealthy in general. In this play, “Romeo and Juliet”, written by William Shakespeare, there are several examples of both good and bad relationships. When these two young lovers see each other at a party, they immediately become attracted to each other. However, they are from opposing families, with Romeo a part of the Montagues and Juliet a member of the Capulets. This family rival leads to Romeo tirelessly pursuing Juliet and ultimately, the tragic death of both of them.
Where the Wild Things are by Maurice Sendak is an interesting children’s picture book. The main character is a little boy named Max, who has a wild imagination. He uses all five senses as well as thought and his actions to express his personality as well as how he reacts and interacts with his surroundings. Max’s id, ego and super-ego are greatly shown in this book through the way that the author has portrayed him. Not only is this book a children’s story, but it can also be perceived as a life lesson.
Lupe Medrano a shy girl who was bad at sports, wanted to be the marble champ. Lupe is the main character in the story “The Marble Champ” by Gary Soto and she is a great role model and that can be hard because not everyone is a role model. She is a role model because she is hardworking, a good sport, and she is very intelligent. The first and one of the best reasons that Lupe is a role model is because she is a hard worker. For example Lupe was determined to win the marble tournament.
As bullets ring in her ear and the fog clears, three bullets fly past her, and the environment suddenly shifts into a heartbreaking moment of silence. Starr, the novel's protagonist, is left with the task of gaining justice for Kahlil, her best friend who gets shot by a cop. In The Hate U Give, Angie Thomas uses Starr Carter's character to demonstrate struggles while navigating through two different worlds, media struggles and how people's opinions affect her ability to speak out.
“A true friend accepts who you are and helps you become who you should be.” Steve and Nathaniel proved that friendship and happiness can be real in the novel The Soloist by Steve Lopez. The way friendship is portrayed in the novel is unexpected in such a way that we don’t see it happen often in our daily life. It is important to our society because finding a true friend is really difficult to find. True friendship is hard to find now in days because we expect many things in return from other people.
The play “ A Raisin In The Sun “ wrote by Lorraine Hansberry is a inspiring play about the Younger family. A typical African American family in the late 1950’s trying to make life better for themselves. Wilde’s comedic influence takes place in the characters placing emphasis on trivial things and treating serious matters with inconsequence. Though this play could be viewed as a simple comedy, what makes it a satirical work is the underlying social commentary. Wilde highlights his views on institutions such as love, marriage, and gender relations by satirizing their nature via reductio ad absurdum and thereby reveals their essential frivolity. Though marriage is traditionally viewed by society as the final step in a lover’s journey, Wilde intentionally separates marriage and love to the point where they seem mutually exclusive.
