Fear of failure is the second greatest barrier that Santiago has confronted while trying to fulfill his personal legend. “My heart is afraid that it will have suffer,” (134). In different parts of the novel, Santiago is confronted with his own fear, He was concern that things will not go according to how he had intended them to happen.
