The better epic hero is hector because he had significant and glorified by the people. Also he was a strong and responsible leader. He led the army to fight the Greeks because he did want to disappoint his father and to have peace for his country. Hector risk his life for his country in the end his life ended in big tragically for the country of Troy because Achilles killed him. Achilles was a epic hero too but, Hector had more character than Achilles because even though he had the same characteristic as Hector.
A hero is a person who is admired or idealized for courage, bravery, a strong warrior, a great leader, or their cunning to save the lives others. In the epic poem The Odyssey, written across generations and spoken by Homer, Odysseus is the king of the island Ithaca. He is struggling through a ten-year journey home after the Trojan War. Odysseus must battle, magical creatures and stand against the fury of the gods. Odysseus must either let his fate fall in the hands of death or prove himself to be a true hero.
What is a hero? To some it is someone who has a supernatural ability and fights crime. To others a hero would be someone who is courageous and compassionate, just like Beowulf. Beowulf fought the dragon knowing the expense of his own life and he is always caring for his soldiers as well as his people. But the question asked by so many is “why do civilizations desire to have a hero?” As a result of chaos, poverty, and famine civilizations believe that a warrior, such as Beowulf, will solve all of their problems.
These abilities are important as a warrior because both his men and the hero reflect and are influenced by them. Some of the abilities are excellence in war, courage, leadership and fighting qualities. These qualities are seen through the heroic characters Hector and Achilles. When Achilles is not present with his men, the Greeks are well defeated by the Trojans with no motivation or support. Achilles is also described by his men as a power figure when the poem says “These were his words,/ and all Achaeans gave a roar of joy/ to hear the Prince abjure his rage.” (R 23-35).
“Heroes need monsters to establish their heroic credentials. You need something scary to overcome.” Written by Margaret Atwood a writer (BQ). The epic poem The Odyssey is about a man named Odysseus who is trying to get back to his homeland of Ithaca. Odysseus has been fighting in the Trojan war for ten years and runs into many Gods, Goddesses and some monsters who may help him, or endanger him. In Homer’s The Odyssey, Odysseus is an epic hero because he is on a quest, has superhuman intelligence, and performs brave deeds.
Is Odysseus a hero? Being a hero originally means “a brave person who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities.”. Odysseus was well known for being a hero. He has the qualities of being a hero in some situations but also has flaws which make him seem less of a hero at times. Being loyal, clever, and dedicated are examples of being a heroic person.
The Greeks, Romans, and gods all value different things in the family aspects. War is not unexpected; however, it has a tragic effect on the families who have loved ones' fight and died in the battle. One such family is Hektor's family. Hektor was both the prince of Troy and a warrior. He loved his family very much.
He would play it every day and would never get tired of it. Some say that, that by playing the golden lyre he made his wife fall in love with him. All these reasons where reasons why he was so talented but only he knows why he was so talented. Orpheus was an amazing epic hero that did many great stuff with his life. He was very brave because he traveled through the underworld to save his wife.
Who needs a hero? Throughout human existence, societies have always looked upon heroes and champions as a gleam of hope in times of desperation. “Like a champion, like a warrior he will stir up his zeal; with a shout he will raise the battle cry and will triumph over his enemies.” In the Odyssey by Homer the main character Odysseus displays many of the great qualities that define a hero and thus forevermore he has been remembered, honored, and reverend by multitudes as an epic hero. Odysseus’s courageous leadership in time of war, his volatile journey home, his strengths and his flaws, have made him immortal for generations to come. What defines an epic hero?
I believe Odysseus is a hero because of what he did during his 20-year journey from home to Troy, then to home again. I say this because, during The Odyssey, Odysseus saves his men on several occasions and eventually saves his family from the suitors. As well his actions during the Trojan War turned the war in Greece’s favor. Moreover, he thinks of his men and getting them home. Notably because of Odysseus’s actions during struggles/fights, he can turn the struggle in his favor.
These reviews I have seen are mostly positive. One of the reviews says it should be read and loved by everyone. (Jack London’s Naturalism) The review says this because the story shows a odd but lovable hero that in the end if he believes and tries his best in the end he can achieve his goals and live the life he would want to live. Another review says that it is really good but is not for young animal lovers. (Call of the Wild- Book Review) It says this because in the story the hero has to do some bad things like rip out other dogs or even humans jugulars to save himself or some of his new found friends, but in the end the review still says it is a really good book.
Even though he’s out numbered, he takes his chances by being courageous to defeat these sea monsters (559). Another trait is Beowulf’s strength that helps him become a hero. Beowulf has “hands that [move] with thirty men’s strength” (380). Like a superhero, strength is also important for a native hero. Beowulf battles monsters like Grendel who triumph his size and devour men who nobly fought in battle.
People say pit-bulls are dangerous and that they are monsters; however, humans are the real danger and the real monsters. Pit-bulls should not be blamed for their owners mistakes; therefore, people should not blame an entire dog breed for the few who have been trained to be aggressive and mean. The owners should be at fault, not the breed of the dog; the breed’s owners have raised them to be aggressive and mean. Although, in certain people’s opinions, they are mean to others, but they are actually great dogs to have as pets. Humans have always been the real monster in these situations, yet most people do not see it that way.
Instead of running away in fear, Odysseus thought about him and his men’s live, strengthening his mental and physical ability in order to face Polyphemus, the cyclops that can easily break him in two. Odysseus’ bravery in defeating Polyphemus has attributed to him having the portrayal of a hero, for he was able to save not only himself, but his men that have survived alongside
