The church’s role on music is everything. During the Middle Ages, or Medieval Period as some say, the church, in a way, started the spark of music for the entire world. Hildegard von Bingen was played a huge role in the contribution of music in the church. Without the church starting music, we wouldn’t be where we are in today 's world of music. She was an abbess, writer, composer, philosopher, Christian mystic, visionary, and polymath, just to name a few of her talents. Taylor Swift, however, is mainly only labeled as a songwriter and singer. Growing up in these two very different countries, means that they have different views and traditions. Both, Taylor and Hildegard were songwriters, but their style of songs were not the same. Some comparison is there are a forbidden tree in both, there is also two children that play big parts of the story, and in both stories there are a woman instigator. Along with the lyrics, it shows that she might finally get her moment to show him that they belong together. Then Swift finds him at the dance and she shows him her paper that says “I love you” and he shows you his paper that says it too. The entire music video leads up to that point. This is one example of a rhetorical analysis on a music video, but every music video could be analyzed this way.
Have you ever read a book and expected the movie to be amazing, then when you finally see the movie it isn’t even like the book? Well that’s what I felt like when I read The Devil’s Arithmetic. Both, the book and the movie, had similarities and differences. The book begins with Hannah complaining about how she doesn’t want to go to the seder dinner with her and that she doesn’t want to remember any more.
This song shows a young girl who is portrayed as having a dorky nerdy look. Also, it shows a girl that is opposite of her, who is a pretty brunette known by the highschool kids. The “nerdy” girl is in love with a football player, who she believes will never have a chance with, because he is with another girl. “Taylor swift” has a crush on a boy who is blind to see that she really loved her and not the girl he is with who is portrayed as a “popular” Brunette. This is an important aspect to Taylor Swift because she is known to sing love stories that she hears about or experience herself.

When analyzing Hildegard von Bingen 's Kyrie which was written in the early 1,000s and Libby Larsen 's Kyrie which was written from 1991-1992, one can see many similarities considering they were written hundreds of years apart. Hildegard von Bingen was born in 1098 and was one of ten children, thus tithing her to the church at the age of eight (Dunbar, 2016, p. 30). During this period, women were disregarded and only men were educated both academically and musically. Bingen was never given the proper materials to compose music and yet today her work is considered by many to be brilliant. Although there are many theories as to why Bingen was able to compose such remarkable work, she claims that her work was "marked by the inspiration of God to give 'musical forms to divine mysteries '" (Dunbar, 2016, p. 31).

Growing up in a society obsessed with the concept of sappy love stories, it is easy to find flaws with the unrealisticness of such accounts of love. Songwriter Taylor Swift contributes to the popular trend of mainstream love stories in her own composition, “Love Story.” Throughout her song, Swift effectively incorporates the use of various figurative devices to relate her own love story with that of the famous Shakespearean lovers, Romeo and Juliet. Swift conveys the strength of her forbidden love, in similarity with that of Romeo and Juliet’s, through the use of metaphors, hyperboles, and allusions. First and foremost, Swift uses clear examples of metaphors throughout her song to maintain the resemblance of Romeo and Juliet’s love story with her own love story.
In my opinion there are more difference than similarities. There are not only the differences between the two people but there are also differences between the two books. Anne’s book didn’t really seem as detailed as Eva’s but Anne’s book was also written as a diary whereas Eva’s book wasn’t. That could be one reason why one seems more detailed than the other.
The ancient Israelite music used in the Jerusalem Temple was highly influenced by the other cultures and kingdoms that surrounded it. Most predominantly, similarities can be seen between the music of the Israelites, Egyptians, Babylonians, and Assyrians. Defining features of the Temple’s music were the emphasis on string instruments, the 12-instrument orchestra accompanied by an equal number of singers, and the notion of holiness that was placed on music within the Temple. While there were many similarities between secular and religious music during the Temple period, the emphasis on preserving the sacred, and demonstrating respect for G-d as well as preserving tradition, was placed on religious music.
