Revealing all of this vital information would allow Polyphemus to pray to his father, Poseidon to curse Odysseus and make him lose all his men and have hardships when he returns home. This decision Odysseus made will affect the course of his journey for the worse. The last deaths in Odysseus’ crew was when they were starving. He told his crew not to eat the Sun Gods. Eurylochus had too much pride to die of famine so he said to the crew “... All deaths are hateful to us, moral wretches, but famine is the most pitiful, the worst end a man can come
In Poseidon’s perspective, he is a well-known womanizer and quick to anger. Poseidon is one to not “hesitate to send storms, floods, and earthquakes out to get you” and although “he is married to the sea goddess, Amphitrite, it does not stop him from sleeping from everyone in sight” (shmoop.com). Ferdinand is punished by Prospero for retracting his sword in such fashion, just as Poseidon was sent to the sea for all eternity. These two characters can relate to a large population of humans, who because of their wealth or power, most of which was handed to them on a silver platter, become overly confident in themselves and feel as if the world is below them. Poseidon and Ferdinand are both great examples of two characters who deal with being arrogant and narcissistic and lash out because of
By the end of the story, all three men are dead from fighting over this money, leaving a pardoner yelling “Only a groat. Come on, unbuckle your purse!” (Pardoner’s tale, line 340), trying to convince people to pay for their passage to heaven. What is conveyed in this tale is that greed can create a vicious cycle of ruthlessness. All of those men went from friends to foe, and killed without the blink of an eye. The pardoner is seen monetizing death, both demonstrating that greed turns people then as it does today.
All in all Tom dies for no reason and represents a mockingbird because of that. Overall, Harper Lee uses characterization in To Kill a Mockingbird to show that the innocent should be protected. Jem loses his innocence first when he realizes that Boo Radley in a victim. After that Boo is victimized by the town because he stays inside unlike everyone else. Lastly Tom is taken advantage of by the Ewells and it cost him his life.
Almost every character who comes into contact with Noah Cross ends up with a less than desirable ending. Jake Gittes must live with his biggest failure and an awful truth no one will believe, the innocent citizens of Los Angeles will not even realize that their water supply is being taken from them, and poor Hollis and Evelyn Mulray have both been killed because of a selfish, horrible plot for money. This film truly shows how common, innocent people will be pushed around and taken advantage of by the evil of the world, the cruel reality of
The central idea of “Mount Vesuvius: Day of Disaster” is about the destruction Mount Vesuvius left on the city of Pompeii in 79 A.D. and the challenges the citizens who lived there faced. The article details that Mount Vesuvius erupted without warning to the townspeople. Although, there were signs of an eruption people didn’t have the advancement to understand them. People ran from their homes to escape the poisonous gasses floating in the air and ran for their lives as the pumice chased behind them. The fortunate ones who made it out were left with nothing but the clothes on their back, while the not so lucky ones were buried alive under the incinerating lava.
These consequences are most impactful because of how dehumanization allowed the soldiers to kill mercilessly, which connects to how they gain a sense of guilty after the war when they have time to reflect. Unfortunately, their guilty consciences became so unbearable to the point where some would commit suicide. This exact scenario occurs to Paul in All Quiet on the Western Front. During a battle, Paul lost his senses as he is caught in the heat of the battle. Suddenly, a random body falls on him and “[Paul] strikes the [French soldier without thinking] at all” (Remarque 216).
The prince, indignant, asks to the figure to reveal himself but he doesn’t answer and starts walking towards the black room where Prince Prospero tries to kill him. But as soon as the Prince touches him, the figure disappears and Prospero falls dead on the ground. Immediately everybody at the party falls on the ground and die, the clock stops working and the candles blow out. The Masque of Red Death is an allegory for the conflict between humans and nature, life and death. The name of the Prince is Prospero, this name recalls the word prosperous, which comes from Latin and means wealthy and successful but, it can also be interpreted as alive.
But out of nowhere a monstrous shadow appeared, lighting flashed everywhere revealing his face. Then I remembered not to look into his eyes, sad to say everyone else forgot. As the great dreamer was heading to the city of Rome, followed him as fast as I could, but he outrun me, but as I saw in the distance flame as bright as the sun started to appear.as i watch the glorious site i knew it was my time. The world was going to end why should I be alone so with a vile of slow killing poison, I sat and toasted “ to you great Cthulhu, the great dreamer”. I watched as everything got slowly got

There’s Max (Tom Hardy), a former policeman who seeks peace of mind after the loss of his wife and child in
