Have you wondered how a friendships starts?Vinny and Joe-Boy are both characters in a story called “The Ravine”. They are 15 year old boys from hawaii. They are going to a ravine to go swimming and to jump off a cliff where a boy named Butchie died two weeks and one day ago. Vinny and Joe-Boy are in many ways similar, yet are still very different. Vinny was scared to go to the ravine. On page 4, the author straits “ he didn't want to be here. It was too soon, way to soon. Two weeks and one day.” Since he is at the ravine so soon after butchie died, he is afraid he is scared that he will meet the same feet. Vinny is brave because he stuck up to his friends. (On page 9) He jumps like a man, man style. He splayed out in a suicide fall. He likes to be the bigger man of Vinny. Joe-Boy is happy because he jumps off a 50 foot cliff and a 25 foot cliff, man style.(on page 7) He likes to jump off the 50 and 25 foot cliff. He likes to feel good when he brags in front of Vinny about jumping off the cliff. Joe-Boy is excited. (On page 9) The author states that he is going to to jump off the cliff with his friends. Mo is going to jump and Vinny says “come on Mo , not you too. Mo jumped in the same position Joe-Boy had done, man style, splayed out in the suicide fall. Vinny and Joe-boy are both 15. (on page 3) the author wrote that “there was Vinny, mo, and Joe-Boy and his haole girlfriend starlene. They are both fithteen years old”. Vinny and Joe-Boy both live in Hawaii. (On page 3) Starlene is fithteen years old and she is also haole. Which Haole means in Hawaii, a white person or non-native hawaiian. Vinny and Joe-Boy are both boys. The other says that “vinny and mo an Joe-Boy and starlene are all fithteen. Which means that vinny, mo and Joe-Boy are both boys.Vinny and joe-boy are different but they are also similar.Vinny was scared for most of the story.Joe-boy is disrespectful to Vinny.Even though Joe-boy and Vinny have many differences, they still call each other best friends.Although joe-boy was controlling at the beginning, Vinny finds that standing up to his
