They are going to a ravine to go swimming and to jump off a cliff where a boy named Butchie died two weeks and one day ago. Vinny and Joe-Boy are in many ways similar, yet are still very different. Vinny was scared to go to the ravine. On page 4, the author straits “ he didn't want to be here. It was too soon, way to soon. Two weeks and one day.” Since he is at the ravine so soon after butchie died, he is afraid he is scared that he will meet the same feet. Vinny is brave because he stuck up to his friends. The Outsiders Essay Do you judge a book by it’s cover? Well in the 1960’s people were judged by how they looked. It was a battle between the Socs and Greasers and a 14 year old greaser, named Ponyboy, is caught in the middle of it all. In the beginning of the novel, Ponyboy gets jumped by Socs after coming home from a movie.
My final is about the difference between the book and the movie “The Outsiders.” This next paragraph is about the description difference between the book and movie. Then the paragraph after that will be about the description of the background or cars that the characters drive or live in. I think that the move and the book where basted of the same story but I think that when the directors made the movie with some different cars or house that can change the movie or they put different things in it so that the movie will look better. Altogether the movie and the book were pretty good and had good meaning to it about want to think of life and it’s alright to not be tough and hard.
Joe forced her to tie her hair up in rags so the attention would be on him, not her. He became very impatient and crushed her on his way to the top. b. Logan came and sweet talked her. He made her feel like she could be young again. c. Joe differs from the others because of his dexter inaction to be powerful no matter what.
Joe-boy was bullying vinny. Vinny is different from joe-boy because vinny doesn’t want to go to the ravine and joe-boy is all about going to the ravine when vinny saw the
" Valence claimed to have sent the boys home angrily. “Marcia and I were enjoying our night when a friend of Ponyboy’s began chatting us up in a very rude manner. Ponyboy and Johnny stuck up for us. They were very chivalrous,
People are often scared of monsters when they are young, but once they grow older and mature, they begin to realize that the idea was made up in their heads. However, some people are so set on the theory of there being mythological creatures that they do not think of the possibility of actual people being monsters instead. We like to believe that we live in a world where none of us are sane and our behavior is superb. When in reality, it is the opposite. We do not realize how much hatred, rape, and violence there is in the world.

Giovanni’s Room Love is a funny thing, it doesn’t always turn out the way we want it too and we can’t choose who we love. The main theme of James Baldwin’s story “Giovanni’s Room” is that love is difficult, scary, and not always what you expect. Although many people thrive on the love they feel for someone, David finds it to be a terrifying and confusing thing. In “Giovanni’s Room” David is reflecting on how he found love when he less expected it and was afraid, saddened, and even a little ashamed by it.
However, Janie shatters this defense the moment she calls him out on his hypocrisy: “Yeah, Ah’m nearly forty and you’se already fifty. How come you can’t talk about dat sometimes instead of always pointin’ at me ?” (79). Janie confronts Joe’s pride and insecurities directly, therefore “[robbing] him of his illusion of irresistible maleness that all men cherish, which was terrible” (79). Joe feels that what Janie did was a “cruel deceit” and now she and the town were “laughing at him” (80).
He expects that his wife will do what he tells her to do and will do it without question. Joe fits the male stereotype in a different way. He tries to keep his woman in line by beating her and brags to the others about it. Although they had a good marriage at the start, the minute that he starts to beat her, her feelings change. She just wants to stick up for herself, “So he struck Janie with all of his might and drove her from the store” (80).
In both John Updike’s “A&P” and Junot Diaz’s “How to Date a Brown girl, Black girl, White girl, or Halfie” the main narration of the stories comes from the perspective of two teenage boys, who also happened to be the stories main characters. The similarities in their subjective viewpoints is quite clear at times, and clearly influences their narration. The similarities of being too young man who are coming-of-age, unreliable at times, in the midst of puberty and developing sexually, and while trying to work against the norm when it comes to their expected behaviors. Both narrators are coming-of-age, young adult men in the midst of evolving into full adulthood. What makes them subjective and unreliable as narrators is the fact that the story is being told through a filter of their perspectives as young men in the world.
When Vinny’s mom tells him not to go to the pond, he disobeyed his mom and went to the pond and felt guilty. When Starlene got ready to jump Vinny wanted to hug because he thought she would die. Vinny doesn’t obviously fight because Joe-Boy was teasing him and he didn’t do anything about it.
