The Book Thief takes place within Nazi Germany, a country heavily influenced by anti-Jewish propaganda “Jewry was now more than ever a label” (Zusak, 216). Hitler was able to manipulate Germany into believing a false reality, in which Germans are the superior race, through the strategic use of words. As Death narrates, “Without words, the Furher was nothing” (Zusak, 521). Words allowed Hitler to convey messages of hate and ignorance, in seemingly rational ways. George Orwell explains this in his essay, Politics and the English Language, stating “Political speech and writing are largely the defense of the indefensible”.
Background/General information of the Nazi Theories of why adolf hate the jews because the jews thought he couldn’t draw people on paintings and that ruined Adolf’s dream of becoming an artist. Also at WWI banks and large companies were controlled by jewish people. Hitler believed that the Jewish people had some conspiracy to control the world and that they would stab Germans in the back . Hitler and his soldiers believed the Jews are non-human in his eyes and thought jews were inferior to such as extent. He felt that he would be doing the world a favor by wiping out the Jewish race.
Fascism and communism are both types of totalitarian style governments that had a great influence on the 20th century. Communism involved the emphasis on the common good by seizing private property and distributing it among the masses in order to create state-owned property, whereas fascism involved the complete rule of a dictator by forcibly suppressing the opposition with an emphasis on nationalism and sometimes racism. The most popular example of communism was the Soviet Union, but many smaller countries possessed the Soviet Union’s communist influence. The two most popular examples of fascist style governments include Hitler’s Nazism in Germany, which had an emphasis on racism, and Mussolini’s fascist state in Italy. Although many countries pursued communist style governments, fascism had a greater impact and
The Holocaust was led by Adolf Hitler, who strived for pure Germans, or aryans, to rule in a world free of those deemed unworthy. By the will of Hitler, the elimination of the Jews was accomplished through the use of various execution methods, which ranged from forced labor to mass shootings. Although cruel in the eyes of the opposers of the Holocaust, the Nazis believed that by eliminating the Jews, their problems would be resolved. The Jews were a scapegoat, being deemed responsible for
A clear aspect of what makes a state totalitarian is having one strong ideology and Nazi Germany perfectly covers this criterion. The government of Nazi Germany was a fascist state. The Nazi ideology uses biological racism and antisemitism, Nazi fascism’s ideology included a racial theory which praised the Aryan race and denigrated those who did not fit this race. Extreme nationalism was encouraged which called for the unification of all German-speaking peoples, the use of private paramilitary organizations to stop and terrorize the opposition, and the centralization of decision-making by, and loyalty to, a single leader. All of these aspects of Nazi ideology contribute to the idea that Nazi Germany was a totalitarian state.
INVESTIGATION Hitler officially became the undisputed leader of the party in 1933 after the law concerning the head of the state of the German Reich merged the positions of the president and the chancellor 1 . This, however, did not eradicate his reliance on subordinates to enact his “will”, and it is within this is where the notorious confusion in Nazi government lies, giving rise to the debate over the extent to which Hitler succeeded in creating a totalitarian government in that he exercised absolute control over all state institutions, subordinating all others to his authority2 .The historiography of this area is characterised by the debate between Intentionalists, who hold that the confusion within government was a tool of control used
Fascism is the act of the total control of people. It is a form of government, which is a type of one-party dictatorship. Fascists are against democracy. Militarism is the glorification of military might. The Nazi Party, which was led by Adolf Hitler in Germany, claimed that they would earn back the country’s economy and rebuild its military.
In this quotation, Hitler is saying that he believes Germany should rebel against the treaty and all of its provisions that were forced upon the people. Even before he was running for leader, he said, in his book, “ 'The Peace Treaty of Versailles, ' was taken as an attack on the Republic and a sign of a reactionary if not monarchistic attitude.” (Mein Kampf). He was not the only one that felt this way and as result, he easily took control of Germany by connecting to the people of Germany and the hatred they felt towards the treaty of
Hitler led a regime of German people to conform against other people with different religions, ethnicities, and sexualities. Hitler was an idol for Germany and Jewish people were the scapegoats for Germany’s problems. Hitler convinced and manipulated millions of people to fight for his agenda. Hitler directed the minds of his followers to support a cause that killed millions of people which is now known as the Holocaust. Hitler was able to execute his plans for the Holocaust because of the aid from others which was demonstrated by Nazi leaders, the German military, and the Axis powers.
During WWII, the anti-Semitic Nazi leader, Adolf Hitler emphasized purity of race and opposed any forms of variation in the racial distribution of his country. To achieve his goals of racial purity, Hitler began to unfairly assert that the reason for the humiliating defeat of Germany was the betrayal of the Jewish population in the country. Through his memoir and propaganda, he provoked the public to discriminate against the Jews, or even eliminate them completely in the country. In addition, Hitler utilized many unethical and unjust means against the Jews such as destroying all the books written by Jews, and shutting down all Jewish-owned business. He even enacted the law to humiliate the Jews, and make them to become the targets of the public by forcing them to wear a yellow star mark.
The Cold War was a time where the citizens of the United States lived in fear. During the nuclear arms race in the 1950’s, the Student Peace Union (SPU) strongly “desired a restructuring of the American society” and fewer nuclear weapons. The result of fewer nuclear weapons would mean the end of the Cold War and the Red Scare. At the time of the Red Scare Joseph McCarthy, an American politician from 1947 to 1957, strengthened the fear of the American people with his methods of McCarthyism. McCarthyism is the practice of making accusations of subversion or treason without proper regard for evidence.
“A major priority of the Nazi Party was to eliminate racially inferior groups in Germany and across Europe. Discuss how and why they did this” The Nazi part prosecuted many racial and social groups during their reign from 1933-1945. The Nazi party followed their beliefs that there was a superior race called the Aryan race and used Charles Darwin’s theory of Social Darwinism to prosecute these groups. In this essay I will discuss the prosecution of the Jewish people, the homosexuals and the gypsies (Roma) and how and why they did this. The persecution of the Jewish people began when the Nazi Party blamed them for spreading defeatism nearing the end of WW1.
