Although Zeus and Hades were brothers there were barely, if any, similarities between the two. In fact, the two were basically polar opposites. However even with their many differences they still shared one or two similarities. One being brothers, as I mentioned before the two got along quite well until they drew for their share of the world and Zeus was declared ruler of the world and Hades was sent down to the underworld where he ruled. That brings up one of their other similarities, the both were both gods. However, from then on the two had nothing else in common and shared more dissimilarities than anything. As I mentioned many times the two were barely similar, a couple of examples would be the following: Zeus, as mentioned many times
In the poem called Works and Days, written by an ancient Greek poet Hesiod, a god named Prometheus gives mankind the gift of fire without the consent of Zeus. This infuriates Zeus, which results him to punish Prometheus by inflicting him with eternal pain. Not only did Zeus punish Prometheus, but he also penalized mankind. In Hesiod's poem, it mentions, "The price for the stolen fire will be a gift of evil to charm the hearts of all men as they hug their own doom" (45).
There are more differences than similarities between Odysseus and John F. Kennedy, according to their hero's journeys. My hero John F. Kennedy unlike Odysseus chose to pick his call. Odysseus got told that he was going to go to war for the Greeks and my hero chose to run for the President of the United States. JFK had many of his siblings die and that made it a challenge for him to get through life. Odysseus was forced to go to war and leave his wife and his newborn son in Ithaca.
Even though the Odyssey and percy jackson are very much alike, in the way they show the cyclops the cyclops do have their differences different. Both the odyssey and percy jackson have a similar cyclops. They are both one eyed, courageous, and strong. They are this way so they seem fierce and unapproachable. While they are alike they are slightly different.
Hello everyone, Zeus, Poseidon, Hades, Apollo, and Hermes are five Greek gods that influenced the Roman religion and found a place among the Roman Gods (Pallardy, n.d.). Zeus: Historically, Zeus was regarded as a god of thunder, lightning, rain, and winds, and was associated with thunderbolts as his weapon of choice (Pallardy, n.d.). Poseidon:
In the Odyssey, the god Poseidon is the main force against Odysseus. As an example, “But all the gods pitied him except Poseidon; he remained relentlessly angry with the god like Odysseus, until his return to his own country.” Poseidon throughout the Odyssey despises Odysseus. Plainly we can see how similar the conflicts
For example, they are both completely immortal. Psalm 102:25-27 explains how even though the Earth and the things of it will be destroyed, God will never change and will last forever. In The Odyssey it speaks of Odysseus speaking “the immortals”. One other similarity between the two is both show their gods as being incredibly powerful. The
In all the myths that we have read, there has been some women mentioned in each myth. There were specific myths that were all about women and those myths show how the goddesses act when they are in danger or in need of something and how they treat the mortals that they meet. Some Deities have similarities that are shown by their actions in their stories. These similarities can usually show how a goddess will act or what one might think they will do. One can compare the activities of Demeter to the activities of Gaia.
A sinner condemned in Tartarus to an eternity of rolling a boulder uphill then watching it roll back down again, Sisyphus was founder and king of Corinth, or Ephyra as it was called in those days. He was notorious as the most cunning knave on earth. His greatest triumph came at the end of his life, when the god Hades came to claim him personally for the kingdom of the dead. Hades had brought along a pair of handcuffs, a comparative novelty, and Sisyphus expressed such an interest that Hades was persuaded to demonstrate their use - on himself.
For all that the Gorgons name means dreadful, had wings, and snakes for hair. They are only alike in a few ways from history. In like manner both were slayed by mortals, the Hydra was slain by Hercules and Medusa was slain by Perseus. In the same way both are monsters and both have snakish features.
Zeus, Athena, Jupiter, Ares, Chronos, and Hades are most likely all names you have heard before, but do you know where they come from? What similarities they have? Where they differ? Roman and Greek gods, although from two completely different civilizations, share some very unique qualities. Greek mythology focuses mainly on just a collection of stories and myths about these “gods” who roamed the mortal world.
For example, they both had myths and legends explaining the origins of everyday objects. For example, where did a mosquito come from. Or how stars came to be as they are today. This supports how they were the same, even if the myths or legends might be different they still explain the origins. Another example they were similar is that they made arts and
These things include the attitude that most people of that time had towards the gods, how a hero was defined and regarded, views about death and friendship. Like wise, the Odyssey was also very popular in it’s time. During the reading of both tales, it can be seen that both of the stories share many similarities. An the main similarity that they both share is that both main characters pose to be epic heros. Even thoguh they come from two different time periods and express differences, they also express commanalities within themselves as characters.
Similarities between the two heroes are abundant. For example, Gilgamesh and Thor are god-like and part god. Gilgamesh is two-thirds god, one-third man and Thor is a Norse god. Being that they are god and/or god-like, their strength is astonishing. Another similarity between them is their bravery.
