Warren used a very effective rhetoric in her argument, depicting the suffering the country had to go through in order to gain the freedoms they had. She asked the reader, how could any american turn their back on the values and ideals our fathers worked so hard to gain for us? She contested that anyone who loves liberty and american values should be an Anti-federalist because anyone who called themselves american must want to ensure the liberties they fought so hard to achieve including the right to vote, state sovereignty, and other rights that would be outlined in the document the Anti-federalists wanted: The Bill of Rights. Not only did she use this powerful rhetoric, but Warren also made her argument very straightforward and outlined it in such a way that anyone could follow. She goes through 18 separate points outlining why the new ratification would do no justice.
Reed, he defines his own personal interpretation of what is and what is not a true patriot. To Reed an American is someone who is encouraged by the ideals in the Declaration of Independence such as “All men are created equal.” I agree with Reed because my interpretation of an American is someone who follows the rights that our forefathers left us. For example people who know their rights are true Americans because they know that the Government cannot take their rights away from them an example is when someone goes to court they don't have to tell the judge anything if they don't feel like it because the judge cannot make them speak or take their rights. Martin Luther King’s enthusiasm towards his cause in the “I Have a Dream” speech is as strong as America’s desire to win the Vietnam War. In this great speech, Martin Luther King Jr. creates a story in the form of a speech by including so many great traits, such as his vivid figurative language, encouraging statements, and his will to stand up for the people who are to scared to do it for themselves. In this text, King mostly states how corrupt our nation is and how we need to fix it. I believe King’s central idea in his speech is he wants to end racism; in his speech, there are three attributes that show how badly he wants to end racism, and they are he will not rest until racism is gone, he doesn 't want violence to threaten his chances of abolishing racism, and he believes our world can be better than this.

One of the ways he made his speech persuasive to people is by using repetition. “We CANNOT” is the main one example that president Abraham Lincoln used. He used this quote to really emphasize the thing we cannot do to make this country great and to make sure all people, no matter the color nor the race, shall always be free. He uses examples like “We cannot dedicate - we cannot consecrate - we cannot hallow this ground.” He uses these choice of words to get out to people that these men in the war of Gettysburg should not have died for no reason.

Patrick Henry’s use of rhetorical questions aided his persuasive speech to the Virginia Convention. First of all, he used a rhetorical question when he said, “Shall we try argument,” (Henry 101). This quote proves that the common people shouldn’t attempt to create a dispute between themselves & Britain. He said this because he didn’t want things to get more worse than they already were. Secondly, he also used a rhetorical question when he said, “Are fleets and armies necessary to a work of love and reconciliation,” (Henry 101).

The Declaration of Independence was the most relevant source on declaring equality and establishing justice. By replicating the Declaration of Independence, she establishes that women were fighting for equality not sameness. In her writing, she discusses women’s lack of rights to education, property, careers, and voting compared to men’s rights: “He has created a false public sentiment by giving to the world a different code of morals for men and women, by which moral delinquencies which exclude women from society…” (Stanton, 2007, p. 59). Stanton finds that Americans have to understand the difference between equality and sameness, in order to properly understand justice.
The Civil War was a great turning point for Americans and their ideas and thoughts of freedom. Slavery began to be questioned because of this change, as several writings express the belief of everyone having freedom and equality. For example, the “Gettysburg Address” by Abraham Lincoln strongly expresses that every man was created equal and everyone should put that into action. Another writing example is “Ain’t I a Woman” by Frances Dana Gage expresses that all people, men and women deserve to receive the same rights as everyone else and no one should be cast aside because of their race, or gender. In the “Gettysburg Address” Abraham Lincoln shows that the idea of everyone being equal is strongly supported.
All I’m trying to say is that this is our chance to free America from Britain. I wouldn’t care If i were on the verge of dying I will fight till my last breath and keep my heart towards the truth. We are an amazing country and we deserve to be free and that is why I am Reenlisting. Because this is my duty to protect our country from Britain’s unfair rule. The question “Would you Re- Enlist” is significant because it shows who will stand for America or back down.
Lincoln 's main rhetorical appeal was the use of emotional language in using word such as dearm , best , last , and hope. Using these words to show how american needs to get back to it roots of why it was formed. To be a safe haven for people who are being persecuted not to persecute people because their look or act different from us. It has much to write about as historical significance because it involves America getting its independence from Britain and what that took. Also this topic can be expanded towards the signers personal lives and what they did to get where they are and how difficult it was for them to sign. This writing raises questions for me towards the atmosphere in the room when the Declaration was signed and also the personal lives of the individuals that signed. Also it could be written about why we needed independence, what it meant, and how it is celebrated today. I could also explore further what would have happened without a declaration and what did happen because of it.
While reading “History and Knowing Who We Are” by David McCullough, the following points stood out the most to me. Firstly the concept that “The desire to find out what’s not working, fix it, and then maybe get it to work is an American quality and our guiding star,” (“History and Knowing Who We Are” page 2). Most Americans have that “never give up” quality to them, and it has paved the success of many important people in our history. Next that “It is our ability then and now to rise to the occasion and exhibit our strengths - not our failings, weaknesses, and sins - that define us as Americans,” (page 1). The constitution is a masterpiece and there has never been a document quite like it in American history and while we use the document to base all of our rights that we enjoy today off of it it is certainly not without controversy. The constitution is the result of our Creed as American 's believing that we have a right to life, liberty and happiness and the government created to protect these rights should be for the people by the people, the constitution is the written guidelines to ensure that the goal was accomplished. Liberals and Conservatives alike both share a love and patriotism for this country, it is how they believe the constitution should be enforced that differs. Conservative values say that the constitution means what it says and liberal interpretation is a false point. It is easy to agree with this point, however we would have no right to privacy if this is how the supreme court interpreted the constitution, this right is only a reasonable assumption based of the amendments that we did have.
