The Storm Runner Written by J. C. Cervantes ~The Summary~ The Storm Runner by J. C. Cervantes opens the reader up to the magical and mythical world of Mayan Mythology. An ancient prophecy unveils itself to thirteen-year-old Zane Obispo, a boy with a pretty simple and sweet life that's about to turn into a roller coaster. The boy dreads going to his new school, afraid of the mockery from others because of his limp and cane. However, this proves as the least of his worries when the boy and his dog ROsie discover a secret entrance to a volcano named "The Beast," kickstarting a prophecy with himself at the center. On the way, the boy befriends a shape-shifting girl named Brooks who explains to him the vast world of Mayan Gods that Zane had only believed to exist in fairytales. Prophesized to unleash Ah-Puch the Mayan god of death, Zane discovers his own ancestry behind the annoying limp he has. The Mayan books the boy read have come to life, fiercer than before... ~My Rating~ …show more content…

Book Review: Isaac’s Storm Introduction: Isaac’s Storm: A Man, a Time, and the Deadliest Hurricane in History, written by Erik Larsen, is a book which may very well be called one-of-a-kind, as it describes one of the most disastrous of the natural calamities of the world-the Galveston hurricane of 1900 and the events which precede it. The author has carefully analysed the hurricane, scrutinized the impact caused by the actions of several people prior to the hurricane that ultimately resulted in massive destruction (Larson, 2011). He has pointed out with precision how the wrongful thought processes of that time led to such a tragedy. Review: The author has pointed out the fact that the thoughtless actions of some men are mostly to blame for the tragedy.
