However, the purpose of Outliers is not to brag about the lucks that successful people had, but to remind readers that opportunities are always available and that it solely depends on oneself to make each opportunity special and to make it to be the guide to one’s success. It is a waste of time and energy to believe that there will be that one perfect opportunity and complain when it does not come. In chapter two, Gladwell writes “Achievement is talent plus preparation”. (38) This quote exactly explains how that it is not about waiting for the one perfect opportunity, but always preparing, so one can be able to recognize and be ready for the opportunities that continuously show up in life. No one knows which event or chance will lead to success; either Bill Joy, Bill Gates, or the Beatles knew that certain events will lead them to success.
This is the same concept as dropping out of college, no college degree means a less paying job. With this in mind, it would be wise for people to work hard, suffer through the pain and become a wonderful and outstanding person. Graduate from high school. Graduate from college and be employed to a well paying job with benefits. If true cowboys worked hard every day and never gave up, as they were based off of the “Ten Principles to Live By”, why should people have their legacies die?
This approach focuses on the maximum benefit of everyone, disregarding whether or not they were derived from lies and deception. This approach would be the most appropriate when assessing a solution to this problem. The process of Utilitarian also helps to explain the assessing of this solution. First the approach says identify the possible solutions, we then look at the benefits and harms of each possible outcome, and last we choose a course of action that provides the most benefit for the overall group. The two groups of Utilitarians also help to lay out this case.
They think the quality of their life doesn 't matter after that very moment. The reason I have done so well, and continue to do well, is because I understand that often doing things I don 't want to do will get me farther in life. No successful person got to where they are just by sitting around. I understand that my life matters, and to get the most out of it, I have to try my hardest to get where I want to be. For some cultures, education is not a priority, but having a job and making money becomes their number one priority in order to survive. Most of the time, taking care of the family, having money to put food on the table, and making sure everybody is in good health are the main priorities some cultures bestow on their members.
