Three Sisters I found it difficult to narrow my choice down to just one favorite talk. But I am a total sucker for any of President Dieter F. Uchtdorf, talks. When I listened to his talk “Three Sisters,” during the October session, I was reminded of the movie Inside Out. This movie was about a girl named Riley, and her five basic emotions, joy, sadness, fear, disgust, and anger. Her emotions end up influencing her actions. In Uchtdorf’s talk, he talks about three sisters, sad, mad, and glad. In his talk he explains the differences between the three sisters. Sad: This sister saw herself as a victim- someone who was acted upon. Mad: This sister was angry at the world. The problems in her life were caused by someone else. Glad: This sister represents the authentic disciple of Jesus Christ. In life we have no way of escaping being sad and mad. Uchtdorf said, “Of course, life is never so simple, and people are never so one-dimensional as the three sisters in this story. But even extreme examples like these can teach us something about ourselves. If you are like most of us, you may have recognized part of yourself in one, two, or perhaps all three of these sisters.” I recognized parts of myself in all three of these sisters. The glad sister of course is who I strive to relate too. But I do have times that I am sad or mad, sometimes I experience both at the same time, because I am humane. How
