What is beauty? How to definite beauty? What is the reason for the entire world pursuing beauty? It has long been questioned if there is a universal concept of beauty as human are eager to solve the enigma of beauty. By conducting a myriad of research throughout the decades, progression has been made. The myth of beauty is eventually revealed as the definition of beauty could be summarized by numerous scientific research and uncountable theories. It is seemingly well-defined; but still, the concept of beauty has subtle changes over time, and the definition of beauty is not universal. Full and curvy is considered as ideal body shape in the past whereas skinny and slender is the beauty in the new era. Paintings in 14th- and 15th century, for example, Leonardo’s Mona Lisa who was full-figured and pear-shaped represented, or even glorified the image of women at that time. Curvy was also a symbolic meaning that being rich, which was attractive to men at that time. On the contrary, tiny and slender is the new fashion trend nowadays. The thinner the woman is, the more attractive she is. Undoubtedly, thin is the latest concept of beauty in modern cities. Ideas from a different period of time created a distinct concept of beauty (Ash M, 2015). The evolution of the concept of beauty revealed people’s mind is ever-changing due to several reasons such as social expectation, therefore they have developed different criteria of beauty.
