They also believe that Mary is higher than the other saints and that she is ever virgin. Protestants believe that only God and Jesus should be asked for help, therefor only they should be prayed to. As for the Virgin Mary, Protestants believe that she is not ever-virgin. They believe she was only a virgin before the birth of Jesus considering Jesus has four brothers.

The Wife of Bath: An Analysis of Her Life and Her Tale The Wife of Bath’s Prologue stays consistent with the facts that experience is better than the societal norms, specifically those instilled by the church leadership. Chaucer uses the Wife of Bath to display the insanity of the church, but through switching and amplifying their view of men and chastity onto the opposite gender. The church doctrine at the time held celibacy in an idolized manner, forgetting the inability for humans to ever reach perfection, or live up to this standard. They also did not hold women in a high regard at all, again this is where Chaucer flips the role, as the Wife of Bath describes her five marriages in her prologue, essentially describing each as a conquest, where the result is her having all control.
Protestants contend that the New Testament offers no proof that Jesus established the papacy nor even that he established Peter as the first bishop of Rome. Others, using Peter 's own words, argue that Christ intended himself as the foundation of the church and not Peter. Others have argued that the church is indeed built upon Jesus and faith, but also on the disciples as the roots and foundations of the church on the basis of Paul 's teaching in Romans and Ephesians, though not primarily
As In the end Jane is portrayed as a believer of her own established idea which is to confirm both supernaturality and spirituality by following her own intentions while at the same time, praising God. Evidently Bronte`s intentions to illustrate the change of Jane`s beliefs caused the idea of Christianity to come up more often as the story
Saint Athanasius of Alexandria The title, Doctor of the Church indicates that the writings or preaching 's of a saint were useful to the church 's members at any age. Also, the doctors of the church are known for their "depth of understanding and the orthodoxy of their theological teachings." Among these men and women, considered one of the greatest and most important of the early church fathers is St. Athanasius of Alexandria. St. Athanasius was a strong supporter of Catholicism against Arianism, which was the cost of the hardships he faced throughout his life.
According to Catholic Culture, religion is the worship and service of God, while the broad concept of spirituality can be defined as “a connection to something bigger”. The 25th of March each year marks the Annunciation of Mary. This is when the Angel Gabriel came to Mary and said "Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favour with God. You will be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus.”
Catholic Church taught people how they could be saved by doing good work and having faith in God. Church taught Christians a series of spiritual rituals in order to be more graceful to God. The Holy Sacraments include Baptism, Confirmation, Communion, Confession, Marriage, Ordination of Priests, Last Rites for the Dying. By the early 1500s they were in corruption and unwillingness to adopt reforms In Germany. Martin Luther, a catholic monk became involved in a serious dispute with the Catholic Church.
It seems like faith has a big important part in many characters view of the death penalty. For Sister Helen, she is a Catholic nun who from what it seems, prefers the new testament or abides more towards the new testament. Even though the prison Priest is still a Priest mentions the old testament and his view seem different than those of Sister Helen. In the beginning of the film I did not see a lot of faith being presented directly. Sister Helen slowly introduced Jesus to Matthew.
Anglicans believe The Thirty-Nine Articles recognizes seven sacraments. Two sacraments that are "ordained of Christ our Lord in the Gospels" are Baptism and Eucharist and that The remaining five are "commonly called Sacraments but not to be counted for Sacraments of the Gospel" Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession and absolution), Holy Matrimony, Confirmation, Ordination (Holy Orders or Sacred Ministry), Anointing of the Sick (Healing or Unction) while Christians believe each sacrament to be equal of importance to each other. Catholics 7 sacraments are baptism, confirmation, holy communion, confession, marriage, holy orders and anointing of the sick. As you may have noticed some sacraments between the two churches are called by different names, but are vaguely the same things for the same purposes, so it seems they both inquire knowledge form the scripture 1 Corinthians 11:23-28. Ecumenicalism is easy to achieve in this case because either way they’d be conducing the same sacraments as one
This event of the coming of the Holy Spirit is important to the church because the Holy Spirit becomes a part of us when we are baptised and become Christian, it helps us to understand that Jesus died and rose from the dead for us. The Holy Spirit connects is with god and brings us closer to him. At the time of Pentecost people were Christians but they had not yet received the Holy Spirit so when Pentecost came they were filled with the Holy Spirit, thus this is why it is so significant for the church. What was the Persecution?
I interviewed Lauren Fidler, a young lady from Iowa. She is a member of St John Paul Catholic Parish, this means that she is a member of the Roman rite and she communes with the pope of Rome. When I asked her about the pope she stated that he has authority and can’t be wrong. This authority that she spoke of came from the primacy of Peter as Vicar of Christ.
Even though Martin Luther was a member of the Catholic Church, he began to question the beliefs and the customs that the church preached. The belief that the individual could not communicate with God was one of his main contentions. The Catholic Church looked to the Pope to find a relationship with God. They had a very ritualistic view of worship, and tended to focus more on the ritual than a personal relationship with God (Tarr 2005).
In It's Not About the Santa in My Fe, but the Santa Fe in My Santa by Alma Lopez, she discusses how the Virgin Mary has influenced her life and how this religious icon has played a huge role for many people of Mexico. In my home, we have a huge Virgin Mary portrait hanging near our living room. My father and mother love and adore the Virgin Mary. Lopez mentioned at the beginning of the story how the Virgin Mary was always present in her family's home and community (pg. 249) I use to live in South Central Los Angeles and remember always seeing paintings on the walls of the Virgin Mary and seeing them as key chains or wallets people had.
