From the book Copper Sun, I have figured out that I am very different from the main character named Amari, but in some ways I can relate to her as well. Amari is a fifteen year old African American girl, who is from a tribe called “The Ewe”. One day white people, who the tribe had never seen before, came to their village and shot and killed many innocent people, three of which were Amari’s family. The ones that were not killed were chained up and had to walk a long way, day and night, without much water. They were taken to a building that was really dreary, where there were many other girls and boys, who looked sickly.

This week I read the poem, “Apron Strings” by Beth Gylys, the author of the poetry collection “Close to the Shore”, published by Michigan State University Press. From what I gathered about this poem, it is about a businesswoman that lives life in the fast lane in order to provide a decent life for her young children, but due to her rat race lifestyle that she is caught up in, she is unable to spend quality time with her family, and as a result her child is affected by this. This poem starts off with clear intentions. The lines about burnt dinner, multiple watches that were wound too tight, and forgotten lists left on countertops, all are vivid images that establish a scene of a frantic lifestyle of a busy woman that doesn’t have
Lily Melissa Owens, also known as Lily is the protagonist in the book The Secret Life of Bees. She lives in 1964 which is in also know and is turning 14. I feel sympathy for her because she has lost her mother when she was about 4 years old and her father, isn’t a nice person. He is mean and sets harsh rules for her and always tells her that her mother died because of her. On the other hand, Rosaleen, a black woman who worked at the peach farm which Lily’s father owned is like Lily’s mother.
She has gray hair because she is living in fear of her violent stepfather's temper and his creatures. Helen frightened and goes to Holmes and Watson for help.

Living Dead Girl Summary Living Dead Girl by Elizabeth Scott is heartbreaking, devastating, and just plain wrong. At just ten years old, Alice, originally named Kayla, was taken from her family, friends, and loved ones. Ray took her and drove her away into the woods, where he beat her until she bled hard. Eventually, they made it back to Ray’s apartment, which was going to be Kayla’s new home for the next five years. Ray changed Kayla’s name to Alice.
A Good Grandmother Is Hard to Find “A Good Man is Hard to Find,” was written in 1955 by Flannery O’Connor. The author was a Roman Catholic who frequently wrote about people who had a strong sense of pride that made them a target for tragedy. The story is about a grandmother who manipulated her family into taking a detour on their family trip resulting in all of them being murdered. Not wanting to go Florida, she showed them a news story about an escaped prisoner named the “Misfit” who is supposedly headed there. It was finally the day I got to see my mom after two whole months. She moved to Florida to find a house down there so I could move down with her. For two months it was basically misery. I have never been two weeks without her, let alone 2 months. I was heartbroken and she was too.
