I chose to reduce the novel to the witches and their immense control over Macbeth and the overall plot, by creating a painting of the witches holding Macbeth, to emphasize how potent the witches are in Macbeth’s life and the crucial role they have established in the novel.
I chose to illustrate the sorceresses power over Macbeth and the overall narrative, by painting the three witches and paper macheing one of the witches hands, holding Macbeth, to express how the witches had Macbeth in the palm of their hand. The painting depicts the three witches standing around in the woods, seemingly conversing about Macbeth, with the witch farthest to the left extending her open hand exposing a small figurine of a king. The king figurine is a representation

The Weird sisters continued to persuade Macbeth 's actions by lulling him into a false sense of security and loss of caution, resulting in his defeat when Macduff, Malcolm, and the English army attacked. Macbeth had once been a strong and courageous captain, but due to the sisters maneuvering of situations, Macbeth becomes a weak, cautionless tyrant. The prophecy states that, “Macbeth shall never vanquished be until / Great Birnam Wood to high Dunsinane Hill” (4.1.105-106). Macbeth is not supposed to be defeated until the woods moved to the hill and as trees cannot walk, Macbeth’s ego enlarges, due to the irrationality of the prophecy, allowing for him to become reasonably reassured of his position. Whereas earlier, Macbeth would have prepared his armies for attack, he becomes careless and has no fear of the war. The supernatural know how Macbeth would meet his end, but purposely do not warn him. Through their numerous prophecies, the witches created an evil tyrant from the once brave captain. The witches hold the responsibility for motivating Macbeth, the victim to their manipulation and misleading. Macbeth’s complete blind faith in the witches and the witches ability to continue having the same level of impact throughout the novel, allowed for me to create interesting artwork with different elements connecting each individual
As Macbeth asked for more information from the witches, in their second encounter, he is flustered with riddled sentences that comfort him and give him a false sense of security. The apparitions that the witches summon each give Macbeth a piece of information that changes the way he thinks about his throne. One of the apparitions tells Macbeth that “none of woman born shall harm [him]” (4.1.102). The other apparition tells him that “[He] shall never be vanquished until Great Birnam Wood to Dunsinane Hill shall come against him” (4.1.115). With these prophecies Macbeth begins to think that none will be able to harm him and that he is for the most part invincible.
In As I Lay Dying and Macbeth, certain characters naturally readjust the extent to which they reveal their true selves to the outside world following the demise of their leader. This culminates in a shift of power and leads the characters on a distinct and troubling journey. The death of a matriarch or patriarch in both As I Lay Dying and Macbeth shifts the power by revealing individual agendas and the justification of unsavory actions. In As I Lay Dying, Addie’s death as the matriarch of the Bundren family shifts the power by uncovering the true intentions of Anse, her husband.
My essential question is how is the language used to influence our thoughts? So I used black and grey because that symbolizes mysterious and miserable, cream because it symbolizes the people, red, and dark red because that symbolizes the violence and the blood. The three scenes are, Act 1 scene 3, Act 1 scene 5, and Act 4 scene 1.
Macbeth is initially displayed as an experienced man of most likely settled character, effective in specific fields of action, and appreciating an advantageous notoriety. One must not presume that every one of Macbeth 's activities is unsurprising. Macbeth 's character is made out of possibilities and nature, and nobody, not even Macbeth, can know the greater part of his extreme self-esteem. Macbeth is dictated by a yearning for worldly and impermanent great.
Macbeth come across the three witches, there they state, “All hail, Macbeth! Hail to thee, Thane of Cawdor” (Act 1, Scene 3). In reply to the three witches, Macbeth demanded “stay you imperfect speakers! Tell me more”. With just these few statements announced, Macbeth’s thirst for power and glory arises and is clearly seen.
Macbeth’s already harmful mindset collides with the witches. “(S)he is propelled in this direction by environmental circumstances” (McLeod). In this case, Macbeth is not in the correct state of mind to realize the witches are just another voice and the decision is ultimately
Ordering the witches to provide further prophecies reveals his ongoing search for “peace”. None of Macbeth’s encounters with the forces of evil and darkness provided him with contentment. The once mature and successful Macbeth has now been tricked by his desires into obtaining worldly honors.
The Role of Weird Sisters in Macbeth’s Collapse In Shakespeare’s great play the Macbeth, there are lots of causes of Macbeth’s collapse. The factors of both his own personality defects and his power hungry wife Lady Macbeth contributed to downfall of Macbeth. However, The Three Witches were the most disastrous for Macbeth. Firstly, the sisters revived Macbeth’s dormant desires to be the most powerful.
This is why the witches are the true villains, because they had planted murderous thoughts in Macbeth’s mind and then tricked him with illogical prophecies. With all this said, the witches’ absolute supernatural powers corrupted them
Where ambition and greed is evidently the underlying thematic thrust, exemplifying how when unconstrained, it can lead to a deterioration of the mental state. All the while incorporating all motifs and symbolisms from within the play and encapsulating it for modern-day audiences to comprehend. Although he remains faithful to poetic imagination, Mark’s competence was clearly demonstrated as he proficiently moulded ‘Macbeth’ into his own conceptual ideas. Which enables him to visually denote the consequences of being manipulated through ambition, by means of a diverse yet applicable usage of language, film techniques and characterisation; inevitably making it the most contemporary rendition of Macbeth to date. On the contrary however, another adaptation rescripted by Geoffrey Wright’s demonstrates a less pertinent approach to understanding.
The Three Witches purposely try to tempt Macbeth by giving him information about his future such as “All hail, Macbeth, who will be king in the future” but purposely not answering any questions. This manipulation of Macbeth represents the dangers of servitude as Macbeth becomes blindly obedient to their predictions and starts to act upon them without considering the moral implications of his actions. The witches’ predictions are presented as something to be followed blindly because no explanations are given, and Macbeth becomes a servant to their words, becoming increasingly ruthless and violent in his pursuit of power. The Witches being the ones to give the prophecy that would lead to the downfall of Macbeth is no accident. Witches at the time were considered supernatural and evil.
People are responsible for the consequences of their actions. When people are not responsible for their own actions, they tend to blame others for their problems. The lack of personal responsibility makes us as human beings, less responsible. The more you lack personal responsibility, the more you make excuses in order to get out of your own personal problem. In the story, Macbeth, by William Shakespeare, it shows Macbeth being a person that has little to no personal responsibilities.
Influence of Witchcraft In Shakespeare’s day witches were not merely a novelty character brought out as a joke around Halloween. It was widely believed that witches were real and that they possessed powers that were considered to be of the devil. This belief in witchcraft eventually led to a widespread panic that was followed by the persecution of witches. Due to this belief in witchcraft at the time Macbeth was written and performed; the tone was already set. Shakespeare used this fear to create suspense within the play and it led to the involvement of the weird sisters and the crazed actions committed by Macbeth and his wife.
The Witches play a crucial role in the development of the narrative; their actions contribute greatly to the downwards spiral of Macbeth’s life and sanity, and the murder of King Duncan. Their introduction to the play establishes a supernatural element that is consistent throughout the play, allowing for further exploration of ideas such as the destruction of oneself as a result of being overambitious. Shakespeare creates a stormy, bleak, and ominous atmosphere when the Witches are first introduced, successfully associating them with a negative atmosphere. It is through their prophecies that Macbeth’s lust for the throne is encouraged, consequently leading him to his own demise and destruction of Scotland. The
In the play Macbeth by Shakespere the main character Macbeth goes through many changes and ends up being an almost completely different person by the end. The two main Influences that attribute to corrupting him are Lady Macbeth and the witches. Lady Macbeth manipulates him using negative reinforcement, while the witches simply plant a thought and watch it overtake him.
