The Crucible by Arthur Miller was written during the cold war. He explored many themes. One of these themes was Hatred. Hatred is defined as intense dislike. Hatred is a major theme in this story because it affected the story by showing strong feelings of one character to another.
Hatred is a major theme in The Crucible. On page 30, “ I will come to you in the black of some terrible night and i will bring a pointy reckoning, that will shudder you.” (Miller,20) This shows hatred because of the things she is saying she is going to do to Betty if she tells. But, Hatred is only one of the many themes potrayed in this book.
