The theme of young love is very crucial to the story of Romeo and Juliet. This young love is the very thing that brought death to the two families, Capulets and Montagues. This love that we talk about is what brought Romeo and Juliet to commit suicide. These two components, young love and suicide, are related because one brought or was the cause of the other. My goal in this paper is to explain how the theme is related to their deaths, show how love is connected with the self-destructive tendency of the story, and explain how the deaths brought the two families together.
The theme of the story is directly connected with the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. When two young adults say they are in love, then they will do almost anything for their significant other. Especially, if they are really happy when they are with the person they love. The love that Romeo and Juliet were experiencing is the main reason why they went as far as committing suicide for each other. Some science colleagues from Psychiatric University Clinics in Basel, Switzerland did an experiment and surveyed over 100 teenagers. Some claimed to be in love and the others said that they weren’t in a current relationship. These scientists proved that an adolescent does different things when they claim to be in love.
