On the other hand, Antigone only stands up to her uncle, the king, because she wants to bury and pay her respects to her dead brother, who rebelled against the city. The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and “Antigone” share a common theme of refusing to conform to society; however, Huck denies all of society, while Antigone only betrays the king. One similarity between the two characters is they both do what they believe is right, no matter the consequences or repercussions. Huck runs away from the widow and his father, and basically rejects all of society because he wants his freedom. In these actions, Huck demonstrates that he will follow his heart, even though his actions could result in danger and chaos.
Mr. Capulet also refuses his Lady’s wishes for him not to fight because he felt like he was too good not to fight. Romeo and Juliet were scared to tell anyone about their marriage because of this feud. It’s also the reason that Juliet had to fake her death when it came to marrying Paris. Mr. Capulet is the the reason why Romeo and Juliet died because he was too proud of his family and he kept the feud going
After the owner of the shawl’s apparent death, the father “truly did not care if he was alive or dead” (Erdrich 392). The father’s mentality broke, he keeps the shawl as a memento for his sister, but it also led to a drinking problem and his children avoiding him. By holding onto this symbol, the father binds himself to his childhood dilemma. The narrator readies himself to convince his father of what he has been doing to his family. The narrator then claims that keeping a deceased person’s possession is unwise.
There are ways in this story that antigone is determined and also stubborn. Basically Antigone had a brother name Polynices and a brother named Eurydice and and Polynices died while fight his brother and at that time there was a king named Creon, he did not like Polynices but he did like Eurydice, so then Creon had a burial for Eurydice but not for Polynices, therefore he could not go to Heaven, so now creon made a law that said that no one could bury Polynices. When Antigone heard this she was disgusted therefore she said that she must bury her brother. So now Antigone when she is done burying Polynices ( Sophocles 751). This shows determination of Antigone because she is wanting to bury him and that she was
Holden is not really there when his brother died the way that Conrad is. Holden feel sad and depressed but he does not really want to kill himself and hasn’t really tried. Conrad is in my opinion dealing with his grief the worst. Conrad tries to kill himself but is saved by his father after he noticed Conrad was not in his room. We get the feeling Conrad’s mother blames him for the death of his brother and wishes that Conrad would have been the one who died in his place.
All because of this poor communication Romeo thinks Juliet is dead and kills himself. Another communication problem that occurs is that of when Romeo says he loves Tybalt, but never does explain why. If he would have told him that he married his cousin they might not have fought, but he failed to do so making Mercutio fight Tybalt. Then when Juliet's dad says she will marry Paris on Thursday
They even go as far as to accuse her of being inclined to trouble like her father after they discover she buried her brother, Polyneices. However, as Antigone is led to her living tomb by the guards, the Chorus expresses sympathy towards her. After Creon receives advice from Teiresias, the Chorus insists that he take it, reminding Creon that Teiresias is never wrong. Creon finally agrees, but is too late. Because of the Chorus's initially submissive behavior, Antigone is left alone to defend her beliefs, leading her to her tragic death.
She was forced to, and her dad also hit her. This evidence shows us how Juliet was put in so much stress to marry someone she didn’t love.In the fight scene where Romeo’s friend died he didn’t want to fight Tybalt because they were family. Romeo and Juliet were too stressed to make the right decision. Your counterclaim paragraph goes here: On the other hand, they may argue that Romeo and Juliet Romeo and Juliet chose to hide their love from their families instead of reveal it.The only reason that they didn’t tell their families is because they were in a blood feud. They are both and they are married to the enemies of their families.
Antigone and Ismene both feel the need to honor their brother with burial, but disagree on whether or not to disobey man’s law. There is clearly a difference between the two sisters Ismene and Antigone. The more timid sister, Ismene, is afraid of what might happen if they disobey Creon’s, the king’s, decree. Antigone, on the other hand, doesn’t care what Creon has to say about the burial and is willing to go through with it to honor both brothers equally. When Polyneices and Eteocles had gone to battle against each other, they both died “In a single hour (p.8-9).” Ismene reveals her cowardice when she says, “The law is strong, we
Creon believes that he is right in executing his sister’s daughter when all of his workers, sentries, sons, and subjects know that he should not have sentenced Antigone to death for his own goals. The chorus of the play, which represents the thoughts of the commoners, begin to question Creon’s actions when they say, “Then she must die?”( scene II line 183). This suggests that the chorus has begun to waver in their trust of Creon, and proves that his thoughts have not been fully examined by himself because he thought that what he was doing was completely just but the chorus thinks
