The evolution of Hamlet is quite surprising he begins as a young leader with the world in his hand, to a mad who becomes gript with revenging his father’s death. The revenge theme is acted upon throughout the story and is essentially what drives Hamlet. He believes that Claudius has killed his father (we later find out this is true), this begins his investigating.
“Hamlet
O, from this period forth, my opinions be wounded, or be nobody value!”
Hamlet 's search to revenge his father 's death blinded his ethics and intelligence and main to his early death. It can be argued that Hamlet is the most complex character Shakespeare has ever written, there has been many debates revolving around his insanity (real or fake). The progression of Hamlet is quite astonishing he begins as a young prince with the world in his hand, to a lunatic who becomes obsessed with revenging his father’s death. The revenge theme is acted upon throughout the novel and is essentially what drives Hamlet. He believes that Claudius has killed his father (we later find out this is true), this begins his investigating. We can be easily fooled by Hamlets insanity but there is intelligence behind his every move. Revenge has essentially ruined his life. Revenge has made his relationships with the two women he loved gone sour (Gertrude and Ophelia) as well lead to their death. It has even made him question his own existence. His antics lead to the death of Polonius who was innocent, and his pursue for revenge
Also, in his time of dying, he found out some important information about King Claudius that he would have never discovered without these circumstances. Revenge is powerful, and if not well contained and controlled it can be fatal. From Hamlet I have learned that power and revenge can consume a person if they are not careful and can cause craziness and mass
To revenge the death of his father, Hamlet plays innocent and in a way insane. Hamlet becomes so obsessed with getting revenge for his dead father that at the end actually becomes crazy. However, Hamlet was already a psycho before the spirit of his dead father told him to
His obsession with the murder of his father King Hamlet, leads him to disaster mainly in his interior, and ends up a problem within his exterior. The murder of his father cause him the feeling of revenge and madness to find out who did that, and to eventually give them the punishment that they deserved, according to him. This drives him into insane circumstances, like when he continuously bumps into Claudius, which is his enemy, that causes anger in him because he wants to figure out the secrets Claudius is holding as well as trying to murder the person that killed his dad. His mental state was not as good as he believed it would have been because all that was running through his mind was to take revenge. Now for his exterior, it led himself
The way Hamlet sacrificed his reputation and pretended to be insane ultimately lead to his true insanity and final act of revenge. Hamlet’s supposed insanity was due to two motives. The main motive for his act was his plan to seek revenge for the murder of his father. Hamlet deliberately began to be distant and unstable in order to deceive those around him. He intended those around him to see him as vulnerable, therefore causing many people to underestimate his intelligence, and this underestimation gave Hamlet the opportunity to continue on and pursue his plan without the immediate suspicion of his family or peers.
The story of Hamlet by William Shakespeare is a story of betrayal, revenge, and intrigue. Hamlet, the title character discovers that his uncle killed his father and married his mother effectively stealing the throne. Hamlet decides he must kill his uncle Claudius as revenge for what he had done. However, as the new king, Hamlet isn't sure how to get to him, so he decides to fake madness, but his plan backfires as Claudius doesn't trust him and makes sure he is always watched. In his fumbled plan for revenge, Hamlet accidentally kills Polonius, forces Polonius's son Laertes to seek revenge against him, and drives Ophelia crazy causing her to kill herself.
From that point on, Hamlet plots and plots how to reveal his uncle’s guilt and get his revenge. But Hamlet is not a violent, murderous person. He is a scholar. And thus he decides to feign craziness -- or so he believes. Throughout the rest of the play, we see his relationship with the other characters crumble as he becomes increasingly overcome by his rage and suspicion.
Hamlet, also, could not get over the death of his father. He found out when his father’s ghost came back that his brother, and Hamlet’s uncle, murdered him. He then was willing to do anything possible to get revenge on Claudius, his uncle. Both of
Hamlet's detrimental characteristics, lead to killing several people in the play, which Ophelia dies from suicide, accidently killing Polonius, also he kills Claudius out of revenge. For instance, Hamlet’s murder of Polonius might have had some melodramatic shock value. Despite, a murderer of his father, killing someone out of dispute is depravity and immature, “ hamlet kills Polonius, mistaking him for Claudius…” However, Hamlet's obstacle in life gave him excuse to not take responsibility and disregard his moral standing. Although, Hamlet took irrational action against Polonius through impulse, unintentionally kills him, yet does not feel remorseful.
Adlai E. Stevenson stated “...the truth is often unpopular”. The truth often hurts an individual. Many pieces of literature exemplifies this such Hamlet and Othello By: William Shakespeare. The protagonist Hamlet encountered many devastating truth. Hamlet reaction to finding the truth brought overpowering emotions towards himself.
As if what Hamlet was living was not extreme enough, the ghost of his father begins to appear to demand revenge for his death. Hamlet found out through his father’s goth that he was murdered by Hamlet’s uncle. It is very difficult to imagen the level of pain, anger, and desire of revenge after losing both parents under so bizarre circumstances. The evil actions of the uncle to take control of the throne, I have no doubt,
Hamlet is William Shakespeare 's renowned tale of mystery, intrigue, and murder, centered on a young misguided prince who can only trust himself. Some may say that the actions of Prince Hamlet throughout the play are weak and fearful, displaying a tendency to procrastinate and showing an apathetic nature towards his family and peers. Others spin a tale of a noble young scholar, driven mad by the cold-blooded murder of his father by his uncle. In truth, I believe Hamlet is neither of these things. Hamlet is a sort of amalgamation of the two, a bundle of contradictions thrown together into one conflicting but very human mess of a character.
(Hamlet 568-82). Hamlet feels pity for himself for being in such a horrible situations with his father’s death, his mother’s quick marriage, and his depression but he is angry at himself for not doing anything about his situation, for not avenging his father against a horrible person. He does not create a revenge plan, he does not speak for his father, etc. He is frustrated and angry because wanted to avenge his father but he does not follow through with his desires. Hamlet then begins to fire up with anger and motivation for revenge against Claudius.
The book Hamlet is all about revenge, and wrongs doings. During this play characters go through faces and act out on their emotions. These emotions drive them to do the unthinkable, however, while seeking revenge their plans backfire. Hamlet is the main character of the play, and is the first person to act out in revenge. When he finds out about his father's assassination, he starts plotting against his uncle/stepfather, the king.
By the end of the play, Shakespeare shows how all of the characters attempt to get their revenge and how revenge does not always work out for the best. Hamlet is the main character of the play and it seems as if everything he does is based off his wanting to revenge Claudius for killing
Through the entirety of the play “Hamlet” by William Shakespeare, the characters were overcome with the need for revenge as the outcome of many deaths. Therefore, no one was happy through “Hamlet” and it resulted in a tragedy. The character Hamlet played a big role in turning towards revenge and never would classify himself as being happy. Hamlet displays positive and negative behavior throughout the play. Hamlet exhibits strengths and weaknesses as well, although his weaknesses of over-thinking, bitterness, and his inability to accept the death of his father overshadow his strengths.
