While the theme of violence in Romeo and Juliet is true , The violence is pointless and unjust killing. From the first fight through the rest of his life Tybalt wanted to kill someone , but Romeo he didn't want to fight ,and so Mercutio tried to intervene and died .Recklessly Romeo chases after Tybalt and kills him, so he's banished . Then Romeo kills Paris before himself, just before Juliet awakes and kills herself.
“ Do you bite your thumb at me? no sir i don’t bite my thumb at you but i do bite my thumb.” From the very beginning of the book the montagues started dumb argument that started a massive fight for no reason. Then Tybalt of course showed up and started being an
Furthermore, Tybalt's deep loathe towards Romeo leads to a street fight, which resulted in Mercutio and Tybalt's tragic deaths. Tybalt says, "Boy, this shall not excuse the injuries that thou hast done me./ Therefore turn and draw.” (3.1.67-68). Tybalt's actions subsequently led to Romeo's banishment from Verona which led to the long distance from Juliet therefore, ending the young lover’s relationship. In summary, Tybalt's pugnacious behavior ultimately led to events that resulted in the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, making him crucial in causing the tragic
Tybalt tries to kill Romeo and says that he will die when they fight. Before they fight Romeo says, “This shall determine that,” knowing that he is the better swordsman and will win the fight. (3.1.123.). Another instance of Romeo murdering people on impulse is when he kills Paris. Romeo does this because Paris doesn’t leave the cemetery when he tells him to, saying, “Put not another sin upon my head by urging me to fury.
Regardless, Romeo does not wish to fight and instead tries to make peace with him because of his marriage with Tybalt’s cousin. The fact that Romeo is not willing to fight back enrages Mercutio and leads to Tybalt killing him. Which then results in Romeo avenging Mercutio and killing Tybalt. Romeo then gets banished which causes Juliet to seek help from the Friar and so forth. Tybalt had no real reason to kill Romeo, but he did and because of his actions, he causes a chain reaction that contributes to the death of Romeo and
Romeo soons kills Tybalt, getting revenge but not thinking about the consequences. Soon the Prince of Verona comes in and Benvolio tells him everything that has happened. The punish for murder is death and sense Tybalt murdered Mercutio he is dead, but Romeo
Later in the play Tybalt's recklessness reaches its peak when he challenges Romeo to a fight on the streets of Verona. Romeo, who has just married Juliet, is refusing to fight and tries to de-escalate the situation by saying, "I do protest I never injured thee, But love thee better than thou canst devise, Till thou shalt know the reason of my love" (Rom 3.1.64-66). Tybalt hates Romeo with his whole heart and does not care about the consequences that will happen by doing so. After Romeo marries Juliet, fighting her kinsman Tybalt is the last thing that he wants to do. Further in the book, Tybalt is not interested in hearing
Finally, Mercutio got himself and Tybalt killed, and Romeo banished because of his arrogance and selfishness. Tybalt and Mercutio met in the streets and since they were enemies they pulled out their swords and dueled. Granted they were both cocky teenage boys wanting to show off, but they started a long trail of deaths. The Prince of Verona said that if anyone was caught in the streets fighting they would be put to death. Romeo didn’t want his new wife’s cousin Tybalt or his best friend Mercutio to die, so he tried to break the up the sword fight.
Firstly, Romeo stabbed two people in cold blood because he didn’t think out his actions. he was so enraged by the deaths of Mercutio and Juliet it led him to kill Tybalt and Paris. “He’s alive and victorious, and Mercutio’s dead? Enough with mercy and consideration. It’s time for rage to guide my actions.
The deaths of Romeo and Juliet are a tragic reminder of how hatred and violence can lead to destruction and death. When Romeo kills Tybalt in Act III, Scene I, he is banished from Verona, causing Juliet to fake her own death in order to be with him. However, Romeo does not receive the message that Juliet's death is a ruse, and he kills himself in grief at her supposed death. Juliet, upon discovering Romeo's body, also takes her own life. Romeo’s last words were "Oh, here, Will I set up my everlasting rest, And shake the yoke of inauspicious stars, From this world-wearied flesh."
This possible assail on Romeo would then result in grave consequences since fighting is no longer allowed by the Prince of Verona. Another example is when Mercutio is later slain by Tybalt infuriating Romeo as he grows determined to avenge his friend; believing there is no other way to resolve the conflict as the “ black fate on moe days doth depend” on whether he will yield to his emotions. Romeo declares that Tybalt’s nefarious actions initiated “ woe others must end ” ( 3. 1. 112-113). As a result, Romeo, bereaved and exasperated, fights back against Tybalt. His emotionally driven actions lead him to murder Tybalt as such a deed would then stain his hands and image.
Tybalt stabs Mercutio” (Act. 3 S. 1 L. 89). In this quote, Tybalt stabs Mercutio which angers Romeo and leads Romeo to kill Tybalt in a battle shortly after. The Prince exiles Romeo to Mantua for fighting in the streets of Verona, sparing him death only because it was self-defense. This splits Romeo and Juliet apart which led to Juliet’s plan of faking her death being miscommunicated to Romeo, leading him to think she truly
Foreshadowing is evident as Tybalt wishes to strike Romeo dead showing that future conflict will arise between Romeo and Tybalt, and it later does. Tybalt's short tempered characteristics are also emphasised as he had no reason to fight Romeo in the first place, nor did he know Romeo. In addition, Tybalt is a catalyst for turning this love story into a tragedy. Tybalt's quick tempered and violent personality lead to his death as he is slain by Romeo after Tybalt's had just murdered Mercutio. As a result, the plot is escalated form here, as Romeo is banished from Verona.
Romeo came shortly after and Tybalt challenged him, “Romeo, the love i bear thee can afford no better term than this; thou art a villian .” Romeo refused to fight, seeing how he just married his cousin juliet and was now family. He tried to keep the peace but Tybalt came looking for a fight and wasn’t leaving without one. Once Mercutio realized Romeo wasn’t going to fight he jumped in. Tybalt had killed Mercutio while Romeo was trying to break it up.
According to Derek Landy, a famous irish author and screenwriter, “ Violence is never the answer, until it’s the only answer.” This message stays true in Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. In this dreamful play, there are two passionate lovers. On one hand there is Romeo, belonging to the Montague family, and on the other hand there is Juliet, belonging to the Capulet family. Unfortunately, for Romeo and Juliet, their families have been fighting in a never ending feud against each other.
In the play Romeo and Juliet hate is a major role in the story/play. The hate revolves around the hatred between the Montague’s and the Capulet’s. Hatred is shown throughout Romeo and Juliet as shown by peoples’ acts of violence. The story does not reveal why the hatred began, only that it was an ongoing conflict between the two families.
Romeo allows his thirst for revenge to cloud his logical reasoning when he kills Tybalt who has just murdered Mercutio, Romeo’s best friend. Mercutio defends Romeo against Tybalt’s insults with comebacks and later his sword. As Romeo attempts to intervene, Mercutio is stabbed by Tybalt and Romeo is enraged. Once he finds out from Benvolio that the wound had killed him, Romeo,”Who had but newly entertained revenge,” (III.i.173), kills Tybalt and flees the scene. Romeo declined to
