In Miracle on ice there were four major themes that stood out to me that I think really connects to the Gospel. The first major thing was loving. The way in the movie they Describe loving was being a family. Doing everything thing together always being there for each other when needed. Never letting each other down and doing the best they could for each other. The part in the movie when they talk about is when there was one more cut and they talk to coach about not cutting anybody else. They said this because they were a family and they weren't going to leave anybody behind. In 1 Corinthians 13:13 it says, And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love. Another major thing was Compassion. The definition …show more content…
Everyone doubted Herb Brooks and the way he thought of game. Everyone thought that the team Herb chose would have no chance of winning or even getting a medal. But him and his team had hope knowing that they could go and beat the Soviet Union. That's all it takes people might doubt you in what your are trying to do tell you you're not good enough. But all you have to know that you think you our. In Jeremiah 29:11 it says, for I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. The last major theme is Courage. The team had to have courage the definition of courage is the ability to do something that frightens one. The team had to have it to even have a chance of beating the Soviet Union. They couldn't go into the gaming afraid of losing. They had to go in knowing that they could win and give it their all. Courage might seem simple but it's not. It’s hard for people to do and most back down from it. But those few that step up and do it that's real courage. In 1 Corinthians 16:13 says, Be on your guard, stand firm in the faith, be courageous, be

For Teddy Roosevelt’s quote from earlier, his definition of courage is going to keep going when you don’t have the strength to do so. Tim O’Brien describes courage as a complex of emotion that is not always easy to understand. My personal opinion of what courage is and what it means to me, is to do something “heroic” that someone goes out of their way to do. An example of this would be, if you’re driving around and you see a family of ducks trying to cross the street. Instead of just driving past them, if you were to get out and stop traffic so the family of ducks could cross I would consider that
Courage is said to be one of the most important characteristics a person can possess. We all admire the ones that put their jobs and lives on the line. They are not afraid to go against what the human society believes in, and some put their lives on the line to protect their loved ones’ back home. Robert F Kennedy stated in Profiles of Courage, that “Courage is the virtue that President Kennedy most admired. He sought out those people who had demonstrated in some way, whether it was on the battlefield or a baseball diamond, in a speech or fighting for a cause, that they had courage, that they would stand up, that they could be counted on (Kennedy ix).
People that show courage in hard times know what could happen to them yet they act upon it to win a battle. In To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee, many characters show true courage when they are under pressure or should not as they know something bad will happen to them. Mrs. Dubose, Atticus Finch, and Jem Finch all show courage and perseverance even though they know that something bad will happen to

Courage is one of the defining elements of the human spirit. It is one of the driving forces of human progress. Without it, human beings would not be able to move forward and discover new things. It is through courage that humans ask questions and dare to seek the answer. Throughout American History, we see these examples of courage at work, but perhaps we see the greatest concentration of these events in the lives of the American slaves.
Bravery can be found in basic tasks every day. It doesn’t require doing drastic tasks. I exemplify courage whenever I talk to someone I am afraid of, ask a question in class, and even when I simply walk down in my scary chilling basement. Courage is the most important element of the heroic code because without courage, heroes and people would not be able to face the trails that scare

I wanted you to see what real courage is, instead of getting the idea that courage is a man with a gun in his hand. It's when you know you're licked before you begin but you begin anyway and you see it through no matter what. You rarely win, but sometimes you do.(Lee 112)

You rarely win, but sometimes you do. ”(Lee,149) This quote meanings is, courage is not winning the battle or even participating in it, it means knowing you going to lose the battle, but fighting anyways and dealing with the embarrassment because you know you're in the right,so standing up for the right thing even if society is against it. Courage is Earned! Courage can't just be said it has to be shown. In the book Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry by Mildred Taylor, Mr. L.T. Morrision is the most brave, loyal, and kind person you will meet. Mr. Morrison showed courage by standing to the Wallaces, he moved Kaleb Wallace's car off the road, and when he stayed with the Logans even though he could get hurt Mr. Morrison’s actions proved that he knows what is right and he is going to stand up for that no matter what. Even though his parents were killed by whites, he stays calm and knows exactly how to deal with the situation.
The season started out like any other, one week of pain staking agony and push-ups. The constant workouts, sweat, and two hour practices were completely worth the outcome of my last volleyball season. The past four years of my high school career I spent being a member of the volleyball team. But to me, this is not just a team, this is my family.
