Theodore Roosevelt Jr. (1858 - 1919) Even as his body begins to wither under the soil of a country he held in the highest regard, his legacy will not be buried with him. Theodore Roosevelt Jr. was born on October 27 in the crisp autumn of 1858 to southern bell Martha Bulloch and American businessman and patron Theodore Roosevelt Sr. As a young boy, Roosevelt suffered from bronchial asthma causing him to be sickly and frail, both uncharacteristic of his adult persona. However, the childhood illness would not curb his curiosity nor determination, which in later years would take him to Harvard University, the battlefields of the Spanish-American War and the White House.
Harry S. Truman, the 33rd president of the United States. He was born on May 8, 1884 in Lamar, Missouri. Truman was best know for dropping the atomic bomb on Japan that ended world war 2. He did this to save American lives. When franklin Roosevelt was president he barely even seen roosevelt or knew him.
Herbert Hoover was President at the beginning of the Great Depression, Underestimating the seriousness of the crisis and he called it “a passing incident in our national lives” and assured Americans that it would be over in 60 days. Hoover also was a huge believer in rugged individualism. Hoover overall was a President with no worries and just shook off the big problem like it was no big deal and maybe even made it worse than it was before. On the other hand, Franklin Delano Roosevelt declared that he was going to attack the Great Depression, The government passed the Emergency Banking Relief Act. That act made banking more stabilized and more out of the depression.
The President I have have chosen is Andrew Johnson. He was the 17th President of the United States serving from 1865-1869. He started out as a vice president when president Abraham Lincoln was assassinated. After that someone had to be elected the new president. Andrew Johnson was chosen.
The best way to describe Theodore Roosevelt is an “Original”, a man like no other helping shape and influence American history for the better. Mostly known for serving two terms as president and being one of the youngest president’s to serve in history, but he was more than that. What made Theodore Roosevelt special was that he believed in peace but just because he wanted peace did not mean he would be a coward and be bullied by others. He has even won a noble peace prize for helping end the Russo-Japanese war. Being one of the few faces found on Mount Rushmore he has earned his right to be remembered throughout history.
The vice president and the first lady today, have given our nation a tremendous impact compared to the past. Presidents in the past had given their vice presidents little authority. Presiding officer of the Senate they also served as a ceremonial assistant to the president that was was it. The First lady also known as the president 's wife also didn’t have a huge impact to our nation and government in the past. The first ladies role was to carry only ceremonial duties.
The influence on wealthy individuals and corporations in politics and campaigns was not a new phenomenon in the early 1970s. In fact, President Theodore Roosevelt proposed reigning in campaign spending by corporations and called for transparency in campaign finances. However, it wasn't until 1971 that reform efforts were put into law with passage of the Federal Election Campaign Act (FECA). The law, signed by Nixon shortly before the 1972 Watergate break-in, instituted disclosure requirements for federal candidates, political parties, and political action committees. However, the law lacked teeth because there was no government-level body to enforce it.
In my opinion the best progressive for America was Theodore Roosevelt. Roosevelt was very popular because of his prestige as a hero of the Spanish-American War and his belief in “speaking softly and carrying a big stick.” After taking over the presidency in 1901, after the assassination of William McKinley, he swiftly guaranteed America that he would not take any radical measures. Then Roosevelt, demanded a “Square Deal” that would address his main concerns. Ownership of corporations and the relationships between employers and employees, as well as the government’s role in the relationships, were the touchy areas of focus during the time period.
The strengths of my personality type is that i'm decisive and see what needs to be done. Not many have the ability to remain resolute in conflict, leading the charge and being argumentative. These pretty much describes who I am as a person. I try to be a leader and see what needs to be done. I learn from experience and hands on actions.
When I say the name Teddy, you might think of a teddy bear, but I think about Theodore Roosevelt, our 26th president. Theodore or Teddy had three other siblings and he had cardiovascular disease, also he was homeschooled. During his adulthood, he had many jobs. For example, he was a cowboy, police officer, Vice President, and then he was our country’s President. Theodore saved football.
