Henry Ford, an American industrialist, once said, “ If there is any one secret of success, it lies in the ability to get the other person’s point of view and see things from that person’s angle as well as from your own.” Depending on someone’s point of view, something may seem insignificant, but through another person’s point of view, it may be the most precious thing in the world. “ There is nothing insignificant in the world. It all depends on the point of view.” This quote by Johann Van Goethe states that it is important to see a situation from another person’s point of view because everyone has different views, no human is omniscient, and because it leads to success. Everyone has different eyes in this world, so we all look at things differently. Different views may lead to different ideas which means that one man’s trash may be another man’s treasure. Seeing thing from another point of view enables us to understand how the world works in general. It helps us understand what people are in need of and why people make decisions the way they do. For example, my grandpa is a very open minded person. He likes to listen to other people’s perspectives, and he never sets a limitation to his own perspectives. I think that is why he was able to succeed in his business. He always made sure to look at things from his customer’s perspective and fulfill his customer’s wishes. Currently I am learning many cultures and languages so that I can understand the perspectives of other countries. I think that understand the perspective of other cultures will lead me to success in the future.
