Lynette Woodard was born on August 12, 1959. To her mother and father in Wichita Kansas. She instantly became interested in Basketball when she was a young girl, this is because of her older brother who would make her practice her shots with a stuffed sock. As Lynette grew older, she started to realize that men and women were not treated fairly, but her fondness of basketball was growing stronger. She practiced nonstop, even though people told her she would never make a team.
One of my best friends and also THE best basketball player I have ever played with, she showed me what it took to be a great athlete. Not only is she one of the best women’s basketball players in the country playing at UCONN, but she is also one of the humblest people I have ever met. I believe that she is another person that helped me find my passions for the game. Playing with her for 3 years was one of the best experiences for me because I was challenged by her hard work ethic every day in practice and got to guard her every single day. Being on the court with her for every practice made a huge impact on my game because she was such a phenomenal player to play against/with.
She spoke those words in 1982 when women were continuing to challenge traditional gender roles. Billie Jean King, an American female tennis player, has never been one to back away from controversy. She is a powerful voice for the advancement of women’s rights, equal pay, and the acceptance of sexual orientation. King is probably best known for accepting a challenge from Bobby Riggs, a former number one male tennis player in the world, to a “Battle of the Sexes.” She beat Bobby in straight sets.

However, as I have grown older, I have come to realize some special things about me. I am a country girl to the bone. A hard working, get dirty and do it right, never give up kind of girl. Volleyball has always been part of who I am. I have been playing volleyball since I was eight years old.
He is a magnificent influencer and is a role model for everyone who has heard his story. I am blessed that I have learned more about him so I can take note of the strength he used to get through his barriers and were able to conquer them one by one. He was persistent and stayed on the course to his goal and ignored all the hateful things people would throw at him. My biggest barrier used to be how shy I was; but each day, I am growing and growing. After listening to what Jackie Robinson did, I am encouraged to fight harder and conquer
My father did not have much money to finish school. My father inspired me to further my education and to have good health if I do. I do like helping and listening to others when they need to vent only because I know how it feels to be alone with nobody to pour your heart out. One of my so-called friends who betrayed me was crying and thought of committing suicide at the time. Even though she betrayed me I know she did not trust many and had nobody to vent to that I was still there to
I have always admired my dad and could say he is my biggest super hero. My father is the best example in my life, and he has proven to me that anything is possible when you want to accomplish great success, with hard work and determination. I really look up to my dad because with his intelligence and
I have always been impressed the most with players who dangle around the opposition. For this reason, there aren’t many activities that give me as much enjoyment as the thrill of going out on a sheet of ice, and competing with another team to show off my dangles. Early on, I wanted to excel in this area of the game the most for some reason. Looking back to my beginning
The first key communication on a basketball team is between the coach and the players. According to Jill Prudden, a former high school basketball coach and the author of Coaching Girls ' Basketball Successfully, communication allows the coach to explain a play to the players and what role each player will have in it. Besides discussing plays, communication allows each party to give feedback to one another. Prudden expresses how both positive praise and constructive criticism helps both the coach and players to make improvement in communicating with one another. She encourage her players to reply by saying “two points” for any praise she give them and “rebound” for every criticism.
TNSCTP Scholarship Letter Athlete: Madelynn Weas Madelynn has been voted President of Str8 Shooters Clay Team by her teammates for the last 2 years. She fills the role perfectly with her drive for knowledge, she has been in a leadership roll for years as a 4H Honors/Allstar member. I think that this has helped her perfect her pursuit through coaching or mentoring shotgun sports with SCTP. I can always rely on her to work with me on our new and upcoming youth, her form and stance will always be textbook, this seems to help the youth understand what goal we are working towards. She could and will pursue the roll of coaching to the next level in the future.
“America was not built on fear. America was built on courage, on imagination and an unbeatable determination to do the job at hand.” This quote by Harry S. When beginning to read “Quiet Strength”, I noticed a strong value within Tony Dungy through his writing. A value that many people lack from time to time. Respect. Within the second chapter, you notice this value greatly when he speaks of his childhood and his family. He mentions his parents’ values multiple times and the discipline his siblings and himself would receive.
