Being a hero must be difficult, especially for a woman. There are three man points to define a hero which is powerful, attentional, and intelligent. First, a hero needs to be powerful to get over the chilling feeling because it is difficult to face a dangerous situation. For example, in the essay “Dawn and Mary” by Brian Doyle describes two women get over the fear felling to leapt out of their chairs because they need to rescue all children from the boy with the rifle. By doing this, they need to have so much powerful.
A hero is someone who puts their life on the line for others expecting nothing in return. A hero has characteristics they show and three of these are bravery and courage, wisdom, and the ability to keep going no matter what challenges they face. The movies Jack Reacher and Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol contain two main characters that are great examples of a hero. Jack Reacher and Ethan Hunt both portray heroic characteristics.
What is a Hero? What is a hero? Is it a person that saves the world, like a leader, or a person who is caring and generous enough to help out with someone who needs help, like mowing a lawn for someone who is hurt or sick? The answer is a person who is loyal, inspiring, and fearless, for example, Mal from Return of the Isle of the Lost by Melissa De La Cruz. A hero is not a person who does evil or who stands by and watches.
The term “hero” can be interpreted in numerous ways between different cultures. A hero varies according to gender, race, religion, and what he or she has accomplished that has given him or her the title of a hero. Joseph Campbell in “The Hero’s Journey” sets up a criteria for heroes. One of the qualities a hero must have is that he or she must have gone beyond “normal”achievement. Moreover, a hero must have given one’s self up to something “bigger.”
A hero is someone who is willing to sacrifice themselves for the greater good. They don’t need to be incredibly strong, blazing fast or highly intelligent. They don’t need skills, they need a big heart. Based on this definition, Eragon from the book Eragon and David from The Chrysalids are hero’s. They both have the traits, follow the hero’s journey and sacrifice things for the greater good of something bigger.
The Greatest Hero Heroes have been within or myths, stories, and legends since the beginning of civilization, they inspire us, warn us, teach us. Whether heroes exist or not there is a format that many Greek heroes share such as an immortal father, a royal mortal mother,, killing a monster, saving a civilization, marrying a princess, losing the goodwill of men, and immortal fame after death, etc. Among Perseus, Bellerophon, Theseus, Heracles, and Jason who is the ultimate heroine? Theseus is the greatest hero because he fits the Greek type of hero the most with his origins, his accomplishments, and his life after the quest.
Imagine a world where you are a tiny speck in an infinite universe, or to have the power of a god. hero is a person who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities. Two people that are known as heroes are Odysseus from “The Odyssey”, by Homer, and Kirk from “Star Trek”, directed by Justin Lin. Odysseus may have inspired the hearts of many ancient people, but Kirk inspires modern people even more.
An epic hero is someone who is brave, a strong leader, and faces big obstacles. In the book Edith Hamilton’s Mythology by Edith Hamilton, talks about gods, demigods, monsters, adventures, and tragic deaths. Perseus and Theseus are both demigods. They both go on adventures and face obstacles. Theseus is the better epic hero because he risks his life for the greater good of society.
In order for a person to fit the descriptions of a hero, they must obtain courage, selflessness, and humility. Luis Velasco, Alexander Selkirk, and Chuck Noland obtain courage and humility, but lack selflessness. Their traits make them well intentioned people, but they do not fit all the criterion required of a hero, therefore are not considered heroes. A crucial trait a hero must obtain is courage, the ability to overcome a frightening task.
A hero to me, for the longest time, is someone who did something epic. Something that changed the world, something that impacted our lives in a positive way. Never did I once stop to think about the smaller things that made someone a hero or the virtues that these heroes had in mind that mad them what they were, until I read Homer’s The Odyssey. I started to give more thought on how commitment, sacrifice and loyalty all came into play to make Odysseus the great leader that he was portrayed as, at the same time I questioned if these values, when placed in the “wrong hands” would make one into a bad and morally corrupt person.
