Survival: The Golden Goal What does it mean to live? What should someone prioritize among other things? “Night” is an autobiographical novel by Elie Wiesel about a terrifying event that occurred in his childhood during Hitler’s time as dictator of Germany. In this memoir, we follow Wiesel as he describes his experience being held captive in the Nazi concentration camps. We see as he gets taken to Auschwitz to the eventual defeat of the Nazis. Although many people in today’s generation believe that surviving shouldn’t be one’s primary goal, I think otherwise. Surviving should come first before all else. If you can’t survive, you won’t have the chance to follow your passions either. Plus, surviving gives some people a reason to keep persisting through their highs and lows. And some people believe that you should focus on your passions instead of survival, but I think your hobbies should come after your well-being. …show more content…

I aim to get enrolled in a good college that would allow me to secure a well-paying job in the future. However, I’ll never be able to reach that goal if I’m dead or become immobile. When I’m walking home, many cars don’t stop when they reach the stop sign and proceed to speed ahead. If I don’t bother waiting and checking both sides of the road, I could become a victim of a car accident. In some cases, people can suffer permanent injuries, particularly to the hands and legs. Many jobs require a person to use their hands or legs in some shape or form. Thus, you’ll lose out on multiple career paths as a result.
