Colonel John Trumbull, already widely known as the painter of the American Revolution, saw Cole’s pictures and instantly purchased one, recommending the other two to his friends William Dunlap and Asher B. What Trumbull recognized in the work of the young painter was the attention to detail and his unique perception of American scenery that landscape artists before had mostly ignored. Trumbull brought Cole to the attention of various buyers, who began eagerly buying his work. Dunlap publicized the discovery of the new talent and Cole was welcomed into New York’s cultural community, which included the poet and editor William Cullen Bryant and the author James Fenimore Cooper.
Tom Thompson is a very iconic Canadian Artist, throughout his years he has many things impact and influence his style and work. He mainly sketched the images he saw and then painted them with Oil on Canvas. Thomson was born August 5th, 1877 in Claremont Ontario. He grew up on a farm in Leith, Owen Sound. He always interested in drawing and painting.

In the novel, Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls, the reader is able to notice many characteristics about Jeannette and her father such as Jeannette being optimistic and her father being a little off. Washington and his men faced a cold, violent, and victorious battle when they rowed across the icy Delaware. The brave continentals were determined to attain a victory against their overpowering enemy. On December 25th, 1776, the valiant General Washington and his heroic crew conquered the Hessian army. The painting, Washington Crossing the Delaware, by Emanuel Leutze, and the poem, “Washington Crossing the Delaware”, by David Shulman, highlight this essential and crucial moment of the American Revolution. Although the artists depict this event in two different ways, with two different perspectives, their works share more similarities because of their use of vivid imagery and their portrayal of General Washington.
A significant reason for this can be attributed to Colescott’s background and the time in which he was releasing very critical artwork like George Washington Carver Crossing the Deleware: Page from an American History Textbook. Colescott’s critique of the painting was largely influenced by his lived experiences as a Black man living in America. Colescott was born in Oakland, California in 1925. From a young age, Colescott was surrounded by art and the issues of race and politics. Most notably, as a teen, he witnessed the painting of Pan American Unity, a mural painted by Diego Rivera on Treasure Island.
Thomas Cole was originally born in Lancashire, England in 1801. In 1818 he and his parents moved to America. Cole’s father wanted him to be a lawyer. However, Cole self-thought himself in the art where he found his true passion on painting. Cole always found picturesque landscapes for which showed interest at an early age.
Even when he studied for his degree Samuel Colebridge-Taylor had one numerous awards for small pieces that he composed. Samuel was being recognized for fusing African American music with the British music to create a unique and popular style. While still being dicriminated by others at The Royal College of Music, Taylor continues to change the stubron view of peers by creating a new spin on European style of music. Later on in the years he begans to branch off so he can again create new systems of music to complemend the music of this time period. In, 1896 he and African American poet Paul Laurence Dunbar and Samuel Colebridge Taylor became good friends and decided to work together ro improve the life of the arts.
Thomas Nast’s art was also influenced by the Civil War, but instead of showcasing it like Homer he chose to give political commentary on it in his comics and cartoons for Harper Weekly. http://www.biography.com/people/thomas-nast-9420600#early-life- He used his influence on the world through his illustrations to expose Boss Tweed and other corrupt politicians of their misdeeds and remove them from their seats of power. Tweed offered Nast a large sum of money to leave the country, but Nast refused; this caused Tweed to eventually flee instead. One of Nast’s most popular pieces is titled “Let Us Prey”, where he depicts Tweed and other New York politicians as vultures feasting on a carcus labelled “New York”.

It contains a beautiful message, that no matter how man troubles and difficulties befall a family, they are still a family and their love binds them together for life. The author uses many literary techniques to portray her message and she structures the memoir into three section, in the first portion she writes about how happy their family is and slight with hints of doubt. The second portion shows disappointment and the realization that their life is not as good as it seemed, and the third portion is about their life without their parents holding them down, but also letting them back
Document 10 takes a painting called Rain, Steam, and Speed - The Great Western Railways by J. M. W, Turner , which portrays the railroad, as we can easily tell from the title. Railroads were a turning point in the Industrial Revolution, an era that was taking place at the same time of the Romantic era. Artists are often influenced by the life that is occurring around them, evident in this painting because Turner depicted a railroad. However, just from the painting, the scene’s subject or purpose was not obvious. By using only blurs of color, Turner allowed audiences to use their own imagination to produce an image and develop their own thoughts.

This romantic style painting showcases the drafting committee of the Declaration of Independence on June 28th, 1776, commonly thought to be the signing, which took place at a later date. In this painting, five men present a draft of the declaration to Congress. John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, and Benjamin Franklin were painted from memory. John never met Robert Livingston or Roger Sherman, but they are also prominently featured in the painting. Several other members of the Congress are featured in the background.
