Benjamin Franklin was a major asset in American history as being one of the Founding Fathers, inventor, and to shape America as it is today. Benjamin Franklin was intelligent at an early age even though that math was his weakest subject; he was an extraordinary writer. When Benjamin turned ten, he was removed from school and to work as a candle and soap maker with his father. During this time at his father 's shop, Benjamin developed fascinations about the sea and wished to become a sailor, but was prohibited by his parents. Then at the age of 12, Benjamin signed a contract at his brother 's printing compony for eight years.
Peter Cooper was born to his Dutch parents on February 12, 1791 in New York, New York. At his early years Cooper did not attend school, for trades was thought to be more useful and important than education. So he worked along with his father in the industrial area. Cooper grew up to be an American inventor, manufacturer, and philanthropist-this is someone who donates his or her time, money, and/or reputation to charitable causes- which is exactly what he did for the police and firemen, public schools, and public sanitation. As an American inventor Peter Cooper invented the "Tom Thumb", which was a locomotive that by 1830 was pulling forty people at ten miles an hour.
To be remembered as uniquely mediocre, just another number to add to the 43 men sworn to office and 44 presidencies, Martin Van Buren was announced as the United States of America’s eighth president in 1836. Considered as the first professional politician to hold office, the creator of the adjective OK, and the founder of the Democratic Party, Van Buren has contributed more to the America as is known today, over the long run, compared to his own immediate contributions as president. Van Buren was born on December 5,1782 to parents of Dutch descent in Kinderhook, New York which was six years after the colonists in the present day United States declared their independence from Great Britain. His father was a tavern keeper and farmer; thus, he
Tesla in History Nikola Tesla was born in the 1850’s, to a father who was a preacher, and a mother who was a hard worker. It was July 9/10 in 1856. I say both 9th and 10th because he was born at between the two. He started to study physics and electricity even as a child and continued to do so in college. After realizing that the best opportunities for a successful life doing what he loved were in America and getting a referral to work for the famous Thomas Edison by mutual friend Charles Batchelor, Tesla immigrated and sailed to New York with little more to his name than a few dollars, and made his way to Edison’s office to introduce himself and a wonderful new idea he had come up with to change the world.
The devices Britain used had an affect on life. Andy Warhol was an American Draftsman, Filmmaker, Painter, and Printmaker. He was the third born child to Czechoslovakian immigrants parents named Ondrej and Ulja on August 6, 1928 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. When Andy was only 14 years old his father passed away, but he did leave money for one purpose and that was to be used for higher learning, and the family decided that Andy would benefit the most from having a college education. Warhol moved to New York City shortly after graduating Carnegie Institute to work as a commercial illustrator, where he worked for several well-known magazines.
Over the many years of his life, many of his inventions helped improve society in the past and in the present. An author, who is unnamed, but used many resources to create a website dedicated to Edison, explains, “Over the next ten years he produced many important inventions, including three that made him famous: a more modern telephone, the phonograph, and the incandescent lightbulb. Although Alexander Graham Bell was the actual inventor of the first telephone, Edison developed a transmitter that greatly improved the quality of Bell's invention” (“Scientists: Their Lives and Works”). He produced many inventions including the telephone, the phonograph, and the lightbulb. Although Alexander was the creator of the first telephone, Edison created a transmitter which improve the invention.
Did you know that Leonardo Da Vinci discovered density 400 years before scientists could explain it? Did you also know that Thomas Edison discovered “etheric force” which led to the invention of the radio? Although both of these men were geniuses in their own time, they are still remembered because of their impact on the world today. Leonardo Da Vinci, known as a great painter, also had a knack for inventing. “At age 30, he first explored his engineering talents and went to work as a military engineer for 17 years in Milan.
While on a walk with a college friend one evening in 1882, Tesla had a sudden moment of realization that he had long been searching for that would make the development of an AC motor possible, which would later become one of the greatest discoveries in history. In this moment, he realized using a rotating magnetic field would allow the AC motor to run feasibly. Although a remarkable student, Tesla dropped-out of college to move to Paris knowing he could better apply himself and his ideas on electricity in a position at the Continental Edison Company. He only held this position for two years and left Paris to move to the United States seeking to work alongside Thomas
The Revolutionary Figure that I picked for my essay is Benjamin Franklin. Benjamin Franklin was born January 17, 1706 in Boston, Massachusetts. He was the tenth son of seventeen of a man who made soap and candles. In his early life at the age of twelve he became an apprentice to his brother who was a printer. He would later on establish his own printing shop.
Since 1883, the Kroger Company has had an intensive background in American Culture. The moving force behind the Company was contributed to Bernard Henry Barney, he invested $372 and founded the first store The Great Western Tea Company in 1883. “The son of a merchant, he ran his business with a simple motto be particular, never sells anything you would not want yourself”. (Kroger Company Fact Book) His philosophy and motto are equally important today, and most desirable to the company’s customer’s base. By 1902 The Great Western Tea Company acquired 60 additional stores and changed its name to the Kroger Grocery and Baking Company.
MCU was founded by John Purroy Mitchel, the mayor of New York City at the time, to help city employees find a way to save reasonable rates and have a low cost borrowing alternative towards loan sharks. With the MCU well on its way to growing bigger and better, it had started out with only one branch in the Municipal building using only handwritten ledgers. By the end of their first year, they had nineteen charter account holders who had combined deposits of $570. Today,
One of the finest technology invented in the 1800’s were railroads and locomotives( Also known as trains). However, trains were first developed in Great Britain in the early 1800s. Until Peter Cooper built the first locomotive in the 1830s. The train was called the Tom Thumb. That is when locomotives became popular in United states.
