•Parliament issued the first internal tax imposed directly on American colonists by the british government. It levied a tax on all printed paper in the colonies. Britain thought that it was a ongoing tax, that would be spread throughout the colonies. Colonist disagreed and it arose one of the most powerful demographic groups to oppose Britain.Colonists burned the Chancellor of the Exchequer and promised to hang him if he ever visited the colonies again. The Sons of Liberty club sprang up to oppose the tax, so they burned the stamps and drove out all the stamp collectors.
Americans wanting freedom from the British rule must take even more dangerous actions by way of mobs and a large amount of sacrifice the possibility of sending our men and sons to war to enable the Patriots a victory over his Majesty’s tyrannical ways. With the blow of losing the courts each session becomes a struggle. Moderates have been difficult
The King refused and decided to wage even more conflict against the colonies; this sparked outrage within the American people pushing them even more to continue their quest to independence from the Crown. The Battle of Concord & Lexington occurred on April 18th through the 19th 1775. This conflict was the first major military conflict of the
Jefferson goes on to list all twenty eights reasons why the colonists are angry with the British government. He lists all twenty eight to really drive the point home that Parliament and the British monarchy have wronged them. One of the grievances listed, “He has plundered our seas, ravages our coasts, burnt our towns, and destroyed the lives of our people. The parallel structure gives more emphasis to each thing that the king has supposedly done and presents it in a way that appears all the events are connected or possibly occurring at the same time. Jefferson uses diction such as “plunders” and “ravages” to make the king’s crimes seem worse than if Jefferson had just said stolen or taken.
After Lexington and Concord, the Second Continental Congress didn’t pursue independence, but they did select George Washington as the military commander. From April 1775 to July 1776, many colonists were confused for their feelings of independence; some colonists wanted to mend differences, while others wanted to fight Britain. The British fought back hard and strong by burning down towns and attacking the colonists. Thomas Paine’s book, Common Sense, argued that the colonists out grew the need for any English rule and they should be given independence. Finally, Thomas Jefferson was appointed to create a draft of the Declaration of Independence, and it was approved by Congress on July 4, 1776.
The American War of 1812 was the war between the young United States and their former mother country, Great Britain. This had been brewing for many years due to the British being at war with France. British was stopping American ships to keep France from trading with the United States. The British became aggressive and captured around 2,500 of the United States Navy attempting to force them to come to their ships’. “The day after the Senate followed the House of Representatives in voting to declare war against Great Britain, President James Madison signs the declaration into law–and the War of 1812 begins.” (“This Day in History”, 2015) Some of the Americans on the New England coast were not happy with President Madison because they feared
independence. Signing the declaration of independence to the founding fathers and everyone was like committing suicide, because it was writing with their signature that they had betrayed the British. There was much tension while during the signing because treason was capital punishment and capital punishment meant the death penalty. Whatever their occupation or position, they were risking everything, including their families and properties. Independence Day today is celebrated by fireworks and relaxation.
It is our opinion that the First Continental Congress was the most significant role in causing the Revolutionary War. I believe so because it gathered the colonies together, created resistance against Britain, and sent a letter to the King. The First Continental Congress cut off all trade with Great Britain, making Britain seem more foreign, pitted colonists against Britain, and got rid of most friendly ties with Britain. The First Continental Congress also sent a letter to King George III stating that they were unhappy with the way they were being treated and that the King must repeal the Coercive Acts or else all trade with England will be halted. In the autumn of 1774 Delegates from all the colonies, except for Georgia, who was dealing
The Revolutionary Era (1764-1789) (www.americaslibrary.gov) the era set up the fall for Great Britain. It would bring nations that were once under the tyranny of the king to become military and economic power houses in the future, the United States of America is one of these nations. It is located in North America. What caused the British colonists to come up in arms? The Boston Massacre (March 5, 1775) (www.history.com), occurred when a crowd of colonists heckled a group of British soldiers while they were on duty.
The American Revolution was a true revolution in the sense that the existing governing authority was abolished and a new one created for the former colonists of the original 13 American colonies. The end of monarchial rule, the exodus of Loyalists, the rise of colonial institutions, and establishment of sovereignty all clearly prove this revolutionary transformation. The authority of the monarch King George III was abolished as the ruling authority over the colonies with the Declaration of Independence in 1776. Around the time of independence and in the years to follow, Loyalists, derided as Tories, lost property and hometowns as they were driven out or attacked by Patriots, removing many influential colonists from leadership positions. In the American colonies between 1763 and 1775, a burning desire for freedom and to rid themselves of the perpetual taxation sparked within the aggravated colonists; leading to the people of the thirteen colonies to declare their separation from Great Britain. The British government placed a multitude of restraints onto the American colonists which limited the colonies ability to develop as a region in the process. In 1763 the Proclamation Act was passed which forbade the colonists to settle West of the Appalachian Mountains and required people who were previously living on that land to move back to the East. The American colonist was extremely frustrated at that passing of this law since they won the French and Indian War for the British

America was able to beat the British because of many heroes and leaders. Three such heroes and leaders were: Nancy Hart, William Prescott, Debra Sampson. Nancy Hart was a hero in the Revolutionary war. One time in 1780 six British soldiers were chasing a certain Whig leader, but the redoats
The American Revolution lasted from 1765 to 1783. This war was fought between the British and American Colonists due to the colonist’s desire to separate from the British. The devastating war was brutally bloody for both the Colonists and the British. The American Colonists were able to defeat the militarily stronger British by utilizing the hatred between the British and the French, having a stronger general, and using their knowledge of their homeland to fight against the British. First of all, the colonists were smart enough to use the animosity between the British and French for their own benefit.
Normally, in a revolution, a government is overthrown and replaced by another type of government. An example of a revolution is the American Revolution, in which the British monarchy got rejected by the colonists in the Thirteen Colonies. From the rejection, it resulted in a war in which the Thirteen Colonies uprised against the British. Both argued over a disagreement about the way the colonies wanted to be treated versus the way Great Britain treated the colonies. Ultimately, the idea of equality among the people and government became a major concern.
